He is using bt recording to demand more money from me for jobs he has so-called done on my behaf. His exact quote is as follows;
"I read my mail every day, and word for word. Also i record and save telephone conversations so that i can refresh on the information i am told. These conversations i hold with yourself on the telephone are then stored on my phone, so that i can retain the information.
If you are implying that i am lying to you about what you say to me then feel free to come and listen to all the conversations. Either that or i can send them to you"

recording voices or telephone calls without a warrant from the secretary of state or the permission of the person being recorded is a serious offence. From the way you talk it sounds as if you didnt know you were being recorded until after the event so i would get in touch with the police ASAP. Also if this person is reading your mail this is also an offence

I can understand his reasoning. Has he had a problem with you in the past denying something you have said? You have to be told the conversation is being recorded. If you do nothing about it. He will continue to do it. Don't talk on the phone anymore, just email him if all he wants is to document everything. If you have nothing to hide why do you care?

i think of this is criminal or no longer extreme adequate for the police to take the undertaking up. you be responsive to who could have recorded the telephone call, this is of course the guy you have been speaking to concerning immigrant workers. So do the such as them, checklist them returned stabbing a workmate ideally administration. Secondly you haven't any longer something to be worrying approximately in the event that they think of you're a racist. It surely would not difficulty me, you are able to no longer teach somebody is or isn't a racist without acts and deeds as info. Stand your floor tell them a minimum of I easily have the heart to assert what i think of, you lot are too cowardly to assert the comparable. they could ***** while they lose their jobs to immigrant workers.

It is not illegal to record you, but you must be informed.
Don't worry they cannot be used against you in a court of law as they have been obtained illegally.
The only real way to stop him from recording you is to refuse to speak to him on the phone, i can't imagine the police will be much use to you unless he circulates them, in which case you can try invason of privacy or get a layer to slap libel charges on him and sue!
Any written correspondance if it is private in nature should not be circluated (as above), but can be used in courts.
Hope this helps
Don't forget if he harrasses you, you can contact the police and charge him with harrassment or even assault if you have a diagnosed condition as a result. They can issue warnings and injunctions to help

No, they cant record you phone conversations. The only way is if they say to you that im recording your conversation prior to you talking on the phone. but even then its ify.
Dont say any thing to this person that will hurt you . If they have to resort to this way of being a jack-***'s to you, then they are not worth speaking to. It sounds like he is trying to black mail you. tell him to piss off and record that if he likes. Dismiss him before he speaks.

I think the jest of the story is that, you promised him a certain amount of money for "jobs" he has done for you, and then reneged. He clearly states these recording are for him to retain the information for himself. Which is probably a good thing when dealing with weasels (like you) who don't pay what you promise.

Does he tell you they are being recorded or ask permission? In most States calls can't be recorded without your permission and I believe it is a felony. Provide a State to give a better idea.

Generally speaking, tape recordings of phone conversations are not admissible as evidence in court proceedings, and if someone intends to record a phone conversation they are required to ask for your consent first.

Yes it is toally legal to record and store telephone calls. You should be told prior to this that you call may be recorded for "X" reason.
If you querey things with him and he demands more than quoted, sounds a bit like blackmail to me.

Anyone who records telephone calls is bound to tell you before any call is recorded. If you are certain that calls are being recorded illegally, take action.
