I have always wanted to join the navy. I know their web site in and out, researched possibilities, and I even have an account. I looked at the sea cadets and really liked what I saw. My father keeps saying that I don't know what Im doing even though I researched the Navy since I was 12 years old and then says stuff like they won't pay for my college even though they at least pay for an associates degree and he acts like he knows what he is saying even though he has no raw proof and is thinking of the drafts during the 70s. I really want to join sea cadets which if you join you have no obligation to join the navy. How do I confront them or should I just ask my mom alone because she is more reasonable with these things.

is it that these third world ingrates and the fancy pants in these civilized lands are always ready to shoot us down at the least suspect of wrong doing? Every civilization has had bad governments and we have had a few losers in office true, but really? People have electricity because of Ben Franklin. We have taken in every immigrant from anywhere and we pay their weight and freight and medical as well. Why are we sitting back and allowing us to slam us up against the wall constantly every chance they get? Is it Jealousy and Greed? Or down right ungrateful pathetic ignorant people or both? Europe would never have survived WW II without us either. I am not trying to offend but really? Is this a world of what you have given me lately? short term memories? And why not help us and be humane rather than the I hate you mentality? All comment welcome without cursing please?

I believe it's an issue, but a stupid fence is not the answer! These people are desparate to leave Mexico, and a fence will not stop them!

When I was little, I thought it would be "cool" to be President. As I grew older, I took on the philosophy that it wasn't. Looking at the way every decision came under intense scrutiny and the amount of negative public reaction I started to think it was a thankless job. From Clinton's indescretions and the constant scandal to George W. Bush's misques and the backlash that has ensued it's enough to make anyone think twice about running. The fact of the matter is we haven't had a presidential election with anyone worth voting for in a loooong time. The 2 major parties only seem to want to pony up candidates who can speak well and have enough charisma to persuade us to vote for them. I dare say they have a very low opinion of the intelligence of the average voter. Now I'm not a slick, polished politician, I'm just a man who likes to base his decisions on what makes sense. I also believe one must give respect to get respect. If I do run in 2008 or ever, that will be my platform. Thoughts?

We had a revolt and somehow won (too bad we did). We should still be under English rule. We defined international law then, and we still do it to this day. I'm so ******* sick of amerian actions.

Lets say, for arguments sake, Bush says tommorow, "you know what, to hell with it. The Democrats and liberals want us out of Iraq I'm tired of arguing so I'm bringing every last one home within 30 Days!" and within 30 days every US military person is gone from the middle east. I assume the liberals will be estatic, correct?
Now, what do you think will happen next? Lets do a whole flow chart kind of thing.
I'll start you off.....Iran will invade Iraq.... You guys can go from there.
I want honest answers. What, as a liberal, do you think is going to happen? Do you think peace and love? A group hug?
Is Al queda gonna open up bed and breakfasts????

I'm really curious what the average liberal thinks is going to happen in the middle east and the world in the months after Bush hypothetically pulls all the troops out in 30 days...
I'm not talking saving money, troop deaths etc... because we will pay more in the long run and many more americans will die by the truck load...
