Is death actually "a punishment" at all? How, after the punished is gone from this world, even if they were able to reflect upon their punishment, what good would that be when they're dead?
What if there's a chance for those criminals to repent to God? What execution does is prevent them from doing so, and depriving God the chance to practice His right of forgiving and judging, simply because man has given himself the right to play god; don't you think?

So many people on here talk about how they hate Bush, but he WAS re-elected, wasn't he? My son just got out of the army after 4 years. He did 2 years in Iraq, was hit by an IED, and lost 3 very good friends. At re-election time, guess who he voted for? And by what he told me, most in the military voted for Bush. I have to say I am not a Bush lover, but I don't like seeing him being compared to much to Saddam. There is no comparison here. And guess what? In two years we will have elected another person to take his place, and you can bet that whoever it is will be hated for somethings they do too. Just a comment.

I wrote a question earlier and got mixed responses. I was in Saudi Arabia when Saddams army was raping and killing everyone in sight. They would pull a car over, drag the family out and execute them on the side of the road. Many other atrocities have been ordered by Saddam. Do people think that these thing are forgivable? Have we gotten that soft. Please tell me that my friends that died during the war didnt die for someone second guessing crimes against humanity should not be punished. Saddam is a sadistic man. I wasnt allowed to finish the job while I was in the military. Seeing him dead would give me closure to my friends deaths. That is why I want to see it, not because I am perverted. Semper Fidelis. If you dont know what that means, look it up.

Just been reading a history of the Nuclear bombing of japan , by an American millitary historian.
It was well known (( in millitary circles )) that japan was ready to surrender days before the bombs were dropped .
The only obstacle was the word "" unconditional"", NOT the fact , just the word , and while the negotiations wre still going on the bombs were delivered , killing nearly 200.000 civilians .
Not a war strike but a scientific experiment , a lot of money had been spent developing this thing and it WAS going to be tried out somewhere .
So , Sadam has been hanged , supposedly by the Iraqi government , who says Bush wasnt in there somewhere overlooking his political experiment .
How many more American and British kids will have to be killed before this experiment will be called a failure

You say you do not believe in capital punishment :

So i am a soldier working on your behalf under cover, I am confronted with a known terrorist that I have been following for weeks he is about to explode a device which WILL kill 1000's of people,I am armed I can stop the slaughter.

What am I supposed to do (ON YOUR BEHALF)

All you soft weak sh-theads please get real !!

Decisions needed by the Soldier are not made in a cool living room comfy armchair they are made in seconds, under severe pressure, knowing before you pull the trigger and after you pull the trigger you will be bullied by the lefty press and lefty MP's for years to come AND face an inquest AND a possible trial!!

THAT IS CAPITAL PUNISHMENT made by a brave soldier on our behalf!!!

And in my opinion a good decision.

I have been there and know people that have had to make that decision THANK YOU

All the pr-ts that cannot make those decisions GET REAL!!!!

ALL THIS HAS HAPPENED TO OUR FORCES!

Democrats are liberal, and Republicans are conservative, right?

And liberals are thought to be the open-minded ones, right?

I think so. But apparently not the European Union. Several so-called 'leaders' in Europe said Saddam's life should have been spared. Then they made some smug, pious remarks about how the death penalty isn't cool. Who are they to judge?

Saddam got what he deserved, no matter what foolish Euro-weenies say. Whaddya think?
