Thats very easy for you to say considering your tax dollars were not paying for the former dictators meals, health care, and over all living expenses. And also, it was not an American court that sentenced him to death, but an Iraqi court. I don't care what you believe, how does America show support for the Iraqi government if it doesn't comply with that governments wishes just like it would any other nations. If he had been killed by americans, it probably would've been done the american way of lethal injection, we stopped hanging people several decades ago.

at the beginning, you're coping with an Islamic way of existence and that they've 3 procedures of execution. A firing squad is an honorable dying and not an option for Saddam. the different 2 are for criminals. excellent and stoning. Saddam have been given the terrific of the two. As for it being public, it replaced into no longer. It replaced into accomplished in a small deepest area. As for being taped and broadcast, it is likewise area of their way of existence. Their human beings does no longer have believed it got here approximately till they observed the excellent or the tape of the excellent. in basic terms bear in strategies, diverse cultures have diverse rules and customs. What you will discover revolting right here, may well be common place there.

Saddam Hussein is a brutal dictator, alright. He deserved to be hanged. But there are still a lot of brutal dictators in power today, and the U.S. doesn't do anything about them. There was a point in the past when the U.S. was even secretly supplying Saddam with weapons in Iraq's war against Iran (have seen the picture of Rumsfeld shaking hands with Saddam Hussein?). Somehow, the U.S. foreign policy is quite absurd. The U.S. support someone at one moment, then turn against him the next moment. The worst thing is that the U.S. know that some third-world country's leader is a brutal and corrupt dictator, but continue to support him for the sake of "freedom and democracy" (Pinochet is one example).
Is the U.S. really fighting to spread freedom and democracy to the world, or is it only after its global interests?. That's too plain to see.

You call upon Americans as though you hate us!
How much better are you than Saddam with your attitude of hate towards America or any country or person? This is the kind of attitude from people that cause chaos in the world today. It is called HATE!
Do you think we are cowards? If so why has the bearded one in Afghanistan been hiding for so long? Why was Saddam hiding?
Let me tell you! They are cowards. After all did America not suffer enough with 9/11?
Maybe you are a coward. The truth be know you are insignificant.
This is not meant to be insulting it is sincerely an effort on my part to understand your way of thinking!
Maybe I should thank my GOD that I don't because maybe then I will hate.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion, no matter how uninformed or dismissive of actual events it may be. The Iraqis carried out the trial and handed down the sentence. Could America have stopped his execution? Probably, but then there would be people accusing us of again unnecessarily interfering in the internal affairs of another nation. Try to understand this, Saddam Hussein committed atrocities against his own people and he well deserved his punishment. The rest of the world can second guess the punishment and will, but I doubt very seriously if many Iraqis are shedding tears for that madman today.

Why should we show mercy for the merciless? When it's your country that Saddam torched and burned to the ground (Kuwait). When it's your brothers and sisters that he tortured, raped and murdered. When it's your mother who waited for your brother for 15 years to come back from IRAQ after being captured by Saddam's army. When it's you that has to keep your brothers room clean and hang the new clothes your mother buys for him in case he comes back. In the end to have to turn in DNA samples because there is nothing left of your brother but a pile of dust and a wallet with an id card. When that match is made a shoe box has to be buried with the ashes of what used to be your brother. Then ask me if his execution was right or not. I am a Kuwaiti/American. America did what any one else would do in the same situation. They let the government of the country they are trying to help stand on its own. America is not scared of anyone. That's why so many are jealous. I am proud to be AMERICAN. I am proud of what America has done and is trying to do. I just wish it hadn't taken so long and i wish that so many of our American brothers and sisters didn't have to die and will die for the freedom of a country thats not worth saving. They are heroes and will never be forgotten.

Yes it was all America. Thank you for setting me straight. What was I thinking when I thought that a group of people who are killing each other by the thousands just because they are a different sect of the same religion could be capable of handing out the death penalty. The parties in the streets of Baghdad were planned by Americans also. We probably paid them to fire guns and dance in the streets with joy. Who would have ever guessed that Iraqi's were all such good actors. I think that if most of them had there way his death would have been much more painful and much more drawn out.
Yeah we could have kept him and not allowed the newly formed Iraqi government to try him for his crimes. Yes we could have refused to turn him over for hanging. But do you really want us to get more involved in other countries governments than we already are.

Taking a life never justifies taking another life. No matter how bad Saddam was, I feel bad for the old man. Maybe he got what he deserved. I don't know. But I'm just sick over it--splashed all over the front of Yahoo news like it's some kind of festival. A man was killed today. A notorious man. An evil man. But a man none the less. When will people learn that killing never solves anything? Violence is never the means to an end.

Yea..americans are sadist arrogant people. They are always contradicting themselves. Paying taxes n hiring rednecks to go to war n kill, but back home saying NO WAR! NO BUSH! But in the end they still voted for Bush to be president again. N they still support and give honour to soldiers who went to iraq. To them, the Earth is made up of americans and the rest-of-the-world. They rule the world and they know it and they are the most arrogant tourists around. No country could veto the land of the free. WMA they say, this and that, fairy tales conjured by their political leaders and they still gladly followed them. Whats the difference between a democratic society and an aristocratic one with a dictator like saddam then? The only difference is that in US, they usually put on a show to convince the rest of the world that they are perfectly flawless before they make a mistake. And the citizens, controversially followed these mistakes over n over. A theory suggests that they could be brainwashed. Yea, anyway, saddam is wrong. But US should bear their punishment as well ad learn to face the music. You dont conquer the moon anymore, there r other nations out there becoming stronger, so learn to be humble a little and face the music. Ignorance would not get u any further.
Oh and something to add on after looking at the responses by the americans. It proved me right. They are really brainwashed. Cant they see the puppet government they had set up in iraq? Saying the iraqi prosecute saddam themselves..what a joke. US government had it planned and u really expect the fairy tales to be true? Nice americans soldiers getting to a land of turbanised zombies to save the lives of innocence from devil saddam? ha..think again..policy of non-intervention they said..But they seem to be interfering in a lot recently huh? N now after all the chaos they still think they are the heroes emerging. Either u r brainwashed or american college standard is way below average standard. No offence. Not saying saddam is right either, jus saying that US government shld be punished as well. And US citizens shld open their eyes. :) happy new yr

Hi ottoman. No not only the military power, i mean, take the american tourist for example, dont u think tt they are arrogant? just by looking at ur questions, u could see many americans shouting profanities and challenging their rights and their goodwill for the war. Since WW2, vietnam war, gulf war, iraq war, all the goverment of different generations were using the same tactic, convincing US citizens that they r there to give freedom and peace to the country of war. Not knowing the political reason that is kept in the dark. In WW2, is the weapons market for the war that give them money, iraq brings them oil. and the citizens, as u can see from the responses from ur question still think that US government is an angel wanting to save iraqi people from saddam. Americans are good at manipulation, setting up puppet government in afghanistan n now in iraq, now all the blinded were convinced that american got nth to do with saddams death. How arrogant can they be?

You seem to be under the illusion that the US tried him and/or executed him. The only American involved was a lawyer on the defense--that's right, Hussein's--team. It was basically an all-Iraqi affair. The US could have butted in but didn't.
