No. Sadly killing Saddam has shown what the so called democracy brings. Instead of a dictator killing the defenceless we now have a "prime minister" killing the defenceless. Don't get me wrong, the guy was an "A"hole and probably deserved to die but this is not my or anyone elses decision to make.

Nope. Hanging Saddam on this eve of Eid al-Adha, the largest Islam religious holiday, would be like shooting the president on Christmas Eve aka stupid and much more infuriating than would even normally be the case. His followers will be in an uproar and we will probably see the violence escalate faster than ever before.
The other problem is that they did not let the Kurd's get there story heard in court. This would be similar to not having tried Nazi's for war crimes. As you can imagine, it will probably lose the government over there the support of many. I think the timing more than anything will spark the violence though.
I can see it going either way after things come down however. Either a stronger and crueler man will rise to take the place of Saddam in his followers ranks, or they will fade into silence and eventually get back to living. I hope for the second, but expect the first.

The hanging of Saddam Hussein will indeed not stop the killings, they will go on and on.
Thou shalt not kill.

Unfortunatelyhe was a dictator, kept in power by those who he gave power too. And they're the ones that will have the most to lose and will fight to keep or regain that power. It happens whenever a government is overthrown, unless you have another dictatorship. This is why democracy works.
So yes, I think things will get worse for a while. Hopefully the Iraq people will settle down soon.

They claimed the Iraq election would be a turning point.
Then catching Saddam was supposed to stop the violence.
Killing al-Zarqawi was stated to be another critical step to peace.
The Iraqi constitution was yet another one.
The opening of Parliament was claimed to be the key to peace.
Then the hand over of some Iraqi towns to the local military was supposed to be another turning point.
And every one of these events resulted in more killings & unrest.
Saddam's execution will only lead to more civilian deaths. More UK soldiers being targeted. More US troops being killed.

I don't think anyone is truly saddened with the loss. Except for the agitators of and in Iraq.
Personally they need to get a life so that the world can have some peace. But, that ain't gonna happen.!

Well, no. If anything, it'll create more violence as it gives them a martyr to rally around. Yes he was an evil git who deserves to die but I don't think the death of this useless old man makes any odds this late in the game.

Hanging him wont stop the killings. It actually increased the death toll by one.
Fighting for peace - it's an oxymoron

For the near future, probably not.
This might even incite more killings.
