The British Foreign Secretary has said in respect of the execution of Saddam Hussein:

"We have made our position very clear to the Iraqi authorities, but we respect their decision as that of a sovereign nation."

Few would question that Iraq, as a sovereign nation, has the right to do what they have done however much we might disagree with it. But surely Iraq was also a "sovereign nation" when America and Britain decided to invade their country and overthrow Saddam in 2003? How is Iraq a "Sovereign Nation" whose rights we accept now but was not a "Sovereign Nation" three years ago?

I understand hate as a concept, but I have only hated one person in my life. This was because he murdered a good friend in cold blood. What I cannot understand is irrational hatred. Hatred and dislike are not interchangeable words, even though some people seem to believe they are. I know there are people who dislike administration policy and I agree with this concept as I myself dislike some of them. However, I would really like to understand what can drive a person to such a powerful emotional state against a person they do know personally. If you honestly feel that you hate Mr. Bush please explain what he has done which so effects your personal life as to inspire this emotion. I know there are people who will misinterpret this question, but I am not passing judgement on your views. I am merely trying to understand them.

Has anybody seen the actual hanging yet? All I've seen is when they are putting the rope around his neck and then showing his supposed dead body. A possible fake?

One of Bush's main justifications for invading Iraq was Saddam's horrendous human rights record. The US is involved in talks with North Korea, but only in relation to nuclear weapons, and only because these pose a potentially major threat to US security -so why does he turn a blind eye to these above countries and their rogue leaders?

McCain has alienated much of the party. Is there another heavyweight out there (Guiliani? Lord help us)?
Otherwise, the game may be up. "Change for the sake of change" will be the battle cry of the Democrats.

I am asking as I am honestly puzzled. I do not mean any spite or sarcasm or anything. And no, I am not trying to preach.

Is there anything wrong for a country to be governed under US brand of Democracy? If not, then why is it that the US puts in a lot money, effort and lives to invade, or have notions to invade a country to spread its brand of democracy?

What if the present system of governance in that country actually works for its people... their culture, their way of thinking and their own culture? Will it be justified then to impose US brand of democracy to people who are actually okay with their system of governance?
