Politics & Government - 27 December 2006

Most of the time the people only seem to show an interest if it affects them directly. No one gave that as a reason when I asked why they don't vote, so now I'm asking for people to give me their views on the two main answers, apathy and "sameness".

I should explain that I am a local Councillor (Conservative), I work hard in my ward to get people interested and to explain why they should be interested. I knock on doors, send letters, write and distribute newsletters/surveys (not at taxpayers expense). I've helped many people in my ward and been active on Council issues generally. I was re-elected last May. I'd add that if you met and compared the Councillors I know you'd see they are very definitely not the same on all counts.

Excluding fighting two wars we cannot afford,placing our service personnel in harms way, without proper equipment. Taxing everything except fresh air.Permitting unrestained imigration.Ruination of the education system.Telling more porkies than all the MPs put together.What has this man got to show for 10 years in office.

Ok in a different question I was accused of generalization and flinging insults and not debate, so I would like to know who amoung right wing conservatives (not moderate republicans) believe what people like rush limbaugh, micheal savage, and similar people say on thier shows? And if you do why?

The reason I ask is it seems that callers who call in and agree are not saying anything but what they just heard come out of the hosts mouth, and can only say that those who disagree and anti-god and anti-americans?

why is it that Republicans blindly follow whatever their leaders say... do you have to have no mind of your own to be in the conservative republican party. Any why is your only defense to anything anyone says against your views "you must be unpatriotic then" Can you not defend your stance with facts as the deomocrats and liberals do...and why do you think that liberals do not have faith in god or is that just another easy answer for people who disagree with you because you really have not facts to support anything you guys say?

yes you may think i'm stupid but i married a foreign guy over 4 years ago (now divorced) and i have recently found out (he admitted to me) that he had planned the marriage with me in order to get the visa etc so he could then bring his (new) wife and SON to this country!! I received a DUI back in October of 2004. I knocked it down to a wet reckless charge and was convicted in January of 2005 in Orange County, CA. Now, my lawyer mentioned I could expunge my record in about 1.5 years. However, I am still on informal probation (3 years) which I heard prevents me from expungement. Is this true? I am trying to start training to become a reserve officer for my local police and this is really hindering the process.
