We were just getting out of a war ( Vietnam) & we had a President resign in disgrace & a Vice president in prison for taking bribes. He did two things that took courage. he pardoned Nixion & told the nation to get over the fact we " cut & run" from Vietnam. The liberals liked the idea of cut & run but not the pardon. That cost him a lot of votes. But he will become a wonderfull president in the history books He will be remembered as a president who did what his heart told him not the polls. He reminds me of two other presidents who did as their hearts told them not polls, Reagan & GW. All three will go down as some of the best in history.

Gerald Ford was an honest man with a distinguished career in public service. He brought an honor and integrity to the presidency again following one of the darkest political chapters in our history. There are many already lining up to pick at his bones and I find it very sad. The truth is this simple he did the right thing. He followed his convictions and helped the country heal some of the open wounds. The man should be remembered in a positive light and if this is not possible for some then they should at least have enough respect for the dead to keep their criticisms to themselves until the state mourning period has passed. Rest In Peace Mr. Ford you will be remembered fondly by many for your great service to our nation.

He brought a fast quick livable solution to some of America's most turbulent times. I would not call it a sweetheart deal or deal with the devil when he pardoned Nixon. What it did do was bring America out from under that dark cloud that was Watergate. A long drawn out trial would have shamed the country and divided it more. He allowed the country to move on to bigger and better things.

There was no deal. Nixon was gone and Ford was not going to put the country through yet another terrible time. Nixon lost the most powerful position on the planet - the presidency of the USA. What else could happen to him?
It was time to move on with the country's business. Ford was a fine, honorable man.

i replaced into relieved to make certain Mr. Nixon, finally, go away place of work. i did no longer see any income in having him charged, yet i did no longer believe the timing of the pardon. I for one won't miss him. His pardoning of Nixon was what turned me off of him. Nixon was a criminal that deserved to spend the rest of his worthless life in prison.

Then if you read about the pardoning you also read that what he did was a wise move and that it brought the country through a difficult time.
Don't try to create suspicion where there is none.
Maybe we (you) could learn something from it.
