why is it that Republicans blindly follow whatever their leaders say... do you have to have no mind of your own to be in the conservative republican party. Any why is your only defense to anything anyone says against your views "you must be unpatriotic then" Can you not defend your stance with facts as the deomocrats and liberals do...and why do you think that liberals do not have faith in god or is that just another easy answer for people who disagree with you because you really have not facts to support anything you guys say?

ok maybe I should clarify...when I say republicans I mean right wing conservatives....

And I do vote every year every election,

And to all those who are going to call me unpatriotic… I love my country and what it was founded on. I do not support how our current president (who I did not vote for, but did vote) has changed what our founding fathers created. And I would pick up a gun and fight for our country any day, and love my husband who does….

to anyone who wants to challenge me to a debate with facts I would gladly take up that challenge

and just to make something clear...I do agree with a lot of you that there are democrats who do the same, and I am neither a democrat nor a republican...I do not believe in Jesse Jackson...he IS a wacko, neither do I support Kerry who basically said my husband was uneducated because he has choosen to spend the last nine years of his life on the front lines in the military

To the first answerer, you're one to correct misspellings. "Parrot" has two "R's". Now to the question, it's because they can't think for themselves. Keep in mind that most fundamental Christians are Republicans. They are the ones that don't mind being called "sheep". Sheep blindly follow with no thought.

Why is it that people always try to over simplify when attacking the other side in political discussion. Life is just never that simple, but one good turn deserves another. Why do liberal democrats always believe that anyone who disagrees with them is a blind follower. Liberals are not the most informed people in the room contrary to their own delusions of grandeur. There are followers on both sides to be sure, but there are also informed critical thinkers. Your post is just designed to insult, not inspire debate and is as dubious a tactic as that which you are accusing the other side of. And before you make another broad based assumption I am not a Republican.

Edit: Kelli P what has he changed that the founding fathers created? To my knowledge there has not been one constitutional amendment passed since he took office. In fact I am not aware of the Constitution being altered whatsoever. Yes I am aware of the Military Commissions Act and the controvesy regarding the wording and Habeus Corpus. Show one valid case where this act has been misused against Americans and we can talk, but to date there haven't been any. What else? The Patriot Act? Again show me abuses and we can discuss it. The problem is there haven't been any proven abuses. I will not call you unpatriotic because I do not know whether you are truly a patriot or not. It really doesn't matter because you are a citizen and have every right to hold and express your own opinions, but the dishonesty in politics has reached epidemic proportions in this country and the same old rhetoric is getting old. We have issues we should be discussing as a people to arrive at concensus, but it is never going to happen as long as both sides are just interested in blaming the other side and use half truths and distortions to base their opinions on. In short, you are part of the problem, not part of the solution.

Edit: Kelli P the problem is that you re not presenting facts for debate. You are just attacking one side. The behavior you talk about is bad and pointless, but how does engaging in the same behavior yourself help the situation? Attacking others does not constitute discussing issues in any reasonable mindset. And yes I am attacking your positions, but it is an attack of your positions not a broad based indictment of all.

I could just as easily ask the exact same questions of Democrats. Why did you blindly defend Bill Clinton when you knew he was lying? Why do you still give cred to Jesse Jackson, even though you know he's a crook? Why do you support John Edwards as a man of the people when he's a rich lawyer who made his money suing doctors over faulty medical fact? Why do you still think that John Kerry is honest when he lied about Vietnam and still lies about his actions with the protest movement? Why do you think that the Democratic Party is for the poor when most big name Democrats are very rich? You Liberals and Democrats don't back your stance with fact..you yell "racism", you yell "sexism", you yell "not politically correct". And why do so many Democrats think it is patriotic to say that the war against terror is a failure, that there is no exit strategy, "Bush lied, kids died", "No WMD's" when this is clearly not the case? Why do so many Democrats love Michael Moore even though his movies are provably filled with distortions? The problem here is not who does or doesn't blindly follow our leaders, the problem is that one side refuses to think the other side has any value. And, incidentally, on this site right where we are at, I've seen many people wishing horrible death to President Bush...yet NOT one wishing horrible death to ANY Democrat. Think about that.

First where do you get your information? I am an independent voter that has a lot of respect for Democrats and Republicans but absolutely none for Liberals. I have seen Democrats and Republicans work together, I have seen them compromise, but since the Liberals have taken a large measure of control of the Democratic party there is none. Liberals preach a dogma type religion, they say Republicans try to scare people into voting for them, but it is Liberals that try to tell everyone that their civil rights are being taken away, the Constitution is being destroyed, that the republicans are racists, that backs and defends groups like NAMBLA. Who was the last conservative that tried to sue to have God removed from the pledge, tell me how many moderate Democrats have sued a city because it had a cross in its city seal? Why is always a Liberal Professor screaming that Bush and the American Government were behind 911? Never heard a moderate Democrat say that! Why is it always Liberal college students that will not allow a conservative to speak at a college where they were invited? Freedom of speech remember? You want to know who will not hear, look, or allow any thing other their own dogma to be preached? Look no farther than the Liberal party.

Who! you are like a walking cliche' you could easily plug the word democrat in where it says republican and ask the same question.
Being on both sides of the coin starting out as a democrat and eventually becoming republican one of the main reason I switch is that while liberals have passion and feelings I realize that is not enough you have to back it up with facts and results. I love for people to disagree with me so I can see what their thought processes are.
What I have discover and this is just a generalization, but when I discuss topics with liberals they usually get angry instead of backing up their ideas with facts and few of them even resort to name calling which is usually an indicator that you are void of facts or ideas.

Stereotypes. I'm conservative and don't like the President. Look at Sen. Warner the former POW. He has taken a stand along with several other Republicans against some of the ideas of the Prez. Liberals want to protect everyone from themselves and not have anyone have any responsibilities for their own actions. The liberals are too busy putting their penises in intern's mouths, all the while spouting off about family values. It is the liberals that are at the forefront of the fight against Christmas and anything religious in public. As for accusing you of being unpatriotic, I will say this: If you don't like it, either get off your *** and vote for change, or MOVE TO FRANCE !!!!!!!!!!!!!

As a republican I support president Bush, but that doesn't mean I think he is right all of the time. This is why our nation is so divided with accusations like this. Each party supports their own party in their own way As for facts, no one has lost any right in the US because of President Bush. Democrats deal in lies and scare tactics, and and for your God argument, do some research Liberal judges have ruled against Christians in our country. I have fought and defended my country just so those who are not willing (the military votes 76% republican) can abuse their freedoms.

Whoa!!! Slow down there girl! I am a Democrat and I disagree with you! Not all Republicans blindly follow their leaders - there are millions of Republicans - they are not all the same. Many Republicans voted for Democratic candidates in the last election, just as some Democrats probably voted for Republican candidates. You are only talking to the extreme right-wing republicans, but many are quite moderate, like John McCain.

Alright, I'll take the bait.

I don't blindly follow what anyone says, leader or not. I do use my mind to evaluate the information before me and then I decide what stance to take based on that information.

I rarely call someone unpatriotic. For that matter, I rarely call anyone anything. I try and stick to the issues instead of openly attacking a person for their beliefs.

Faith in God. I find it hypocritical for a person to claim to follow the word of God yet endorse homosexuality. Show me one place in the Bible where God, Jesus or any of his Apostles endorse a man sleeping with a man or a woman sleeping with a woman. That's it in a nutshell. If you claim to be a Christian following the Word of God and you support homosexual behavior you are a hypocrit.

I'll debate facts with you any day of the week. You have to stick to the facts backed up with data. I bet you aren't willing to do that though. Frankly, I have a feeling you are incapable of doing that.

Yes I agree they do follow what their leader says just like sheep! I have relatives in the USA too, all supposed to be Christians. But I thought murdering innocent people goes against what Christians believe in. Being patriotic is defending your shores and wanting to do so, not invading countries which have nothing to do with you. I don't recall Iraq selling out the the USA!
