Our democracy is bought and paid for by large corporations and a few rich families. It didn't used to be this way, but lobbyists and campaign financing have changed that. It doesn't matter if you are a Democrat or a Republican, if you've been in public office for longer than 10 years, you have more than likely been bought and paid for. You vote one way or the other depending on who gave you the biggest check because next time election season rolls around, you want to make sure you get that same fat check. I think campaign finance reform has not progressed to where we need it to be if we want to have a real representative government. We need representatives that look out for our best interest and not the best interest of their largest contributor.
If you need an example of this current administration's commitments, just look at the reconstruction contracts in Iraq. Many of them were "no bid" but I'm sure those companies paid for them somehow. Also, look at the censoring of scientific documents. The administration has consistently censored out talk of global warming. Not talk of whether it is accelerated by man, just talk of it at all. They have recently reversed their position (the polar bear story). I guess since Bush doesn't have to run for reelection again he doesn't have to worry whose oil covered toes he steps on. But, then again the report has to go through "review" still, so who knows what it will look like when it gets out of there. Also look at things like the refusal of our own government to help the elderly who have to choose between food and medicine. Asking them to negotiate with the pharmacutical companies is like asking them to chop their "handshaking" arm off. They can't fathom doing it. It's all disgusting, but unfortunately it has become part of the political game. If you want to win you have to send the American people down the creek without a paddle.
This may sound cynical, but it's just reality.

Offiically the White House, unofficially Wall Street and Opec are the puppet masters of President Bush. The Republican party has a history of their Presidents being under the influence of Big Business.

WALL STREET
Corporate America has owned and operated this country for many years (no news there), but the current administration has blatantly shoved it in our faces.... With their "Like it or not" mentality the good ol' boys have lied to, and cheated this country and much of the world.

With this administration only George Bush dictates foreign policy. For all you liberals who say this is a war over oil, What do you for heating your home, fueling your car . I use OIL// You are against drilling in Alaska & off shore So where else are we going to get oil. The MIDDLE EAST// where are all the hot spots today? The MIDDLE EAST. Enought said.
