I'm talking about the roman war machine and Sparta before she took on the Persian empire. both were well disciplined but Rome would pull back in a fight Sparta wouldn't. so who do u think would win? and wouldn't it be great to see this on the history channel or the military channel some day?

I've read some info that indicates that the freedoms written about in old documents were simply freedom to choose between christian variances/denominations, not to be a different religion altogether. Is this really true? Is there any proof of it? If so, how did things go different : couldn't people have simply checked these documents? The way it is, what if no place is left for christians to go live at ? Muslims, buddhists, etc. all have their lands where they make it that religion. Shouldn't christians have a place to live where people who have the same values & beliefs can live in peace without all the things they regard as evil?

I heard Ann Coulter bashing the New York Times for using Transmigrant to describe illegal aliens. Is this just the NYT editors term or is it the new term?

...but today's government is getting ever closer to a police state.

Is there anything that can be done to reverse the trend? (Side questions: Those of you who have actually READ 1984... do you see any parallels?)

can I be sued for defamation if I believe what I said or wrote about someone's BEHAVIOUR (not character) is true? e.g. if I wrote that he is giving me undue pressure to do certain unethical things (which is my point of view, although the person concerned disagreed)

they are like black widow spiders they wait in the wings until they think no one else is answering the question and they scan over the answers and pick the best one and try to capitalize on your answer by saying the exact same thing you did only they try to make it fancier with bigger words or they state that they are an expert in the field. Notice that they are always at the bottom of the list of answers. Sometimes they even point your answer out and say things like "thats almost right but" Don't you despise this when someone stands on your shoulders and uses your idea and then call it their own? What do you call them they're not the same as trolls. I want to call them.......leeches. Have you had this same problem?

Alright in my last question I said:

"What rate in the Navy would see the most combat in a real war? (Real meaning, not like Iraq, but like a War with Iran or...you could say WWI and WWII. Where the enemy actually has a decent Navy)"
----
And a couple people asked/didnt understand what I ment by "combat". I dont mean boots on the ground, bullets wizzing past your face Army/Marines combat. I mean Naval Combat; Missles, Torpedos, Bullets, whatever; anything having to do w/ fighting or trying to sink another ship or destroying a shore port or building or whatever.

---Thanks

Being right

or

Having friendly relations with those who are wrong, hateful, evil, and clearly want your country to be destroyed unless you capitulate to their way of thinking ????

Some may think the answer is obviously 'being right' , but I'm guessing that there may be plenty of others who choose the latter !!

I can sell my labor--that's called wages.
I can sell my learning-- that's called salary.

If I own both those, then why do governments prohibit me from selling my organs, a kidney here, or a lung, or a portion of my liver there, and make money?

Who owns me?

Millions (if not billions) of people would love to come to the USA to live. Millions totally ignore our laws and come here hoping for amnesty. What about the millions who are following the laws, paying the fees, and awaiting their turn to come here legally?

Would amnesty be a slap in their face?
