I work with a majority of Hispanics and most of them are very sweet. I have noticed that they are are reserved at first, I guess they don't know how we'll act towards them?I have worked with one guy for about the past 8 months and him and I have become really good friends, despite our language barrier. I can speak more Spanish than he does English and we both converse and teach each other our language. He tells me that I am his best "amiga" and that he hopes we are friends forever. He also will say stuff like "sexy" or "bonita" or "tienes novio? porque..tu eres muy bonita" which I just take as joking. A lot of the people I work with figure why bother to try and communicate with them and do not even give them the time of day. Do you think they appreciate an effort in getting to know them and communicating and that's why he tells me I am his best "amiga" or is it just a cultural difference? I know I appreciate it when they speak English and I get offended when people make racist remarks.

Only seems fair if their invasion was based on a false premise, that the war was therefore illegal and not sanctioned by the UN, that they should be held to account.

I just dont get it whats the big deal here? People are screaming for years on both sides. Its like its gonna spark a civil war in USA. Cant they just sit and talk, give everyone a chance to express their thoughts and understand each other. Believe me its pointless, everyone is created equal after all.

I've heard a lot of Republicans say that the current administration doesn't represent them. What would be better?

Why are you a conservative, and what role does religion play in it? Are there a lot of non-Christian Republicans?

I mean that some people see the news or read the newspaper and believe whatever the media says. Like the bombing of the London underground the media framed the muslims for taking responsibility of the explosion. Why? It could be any religion even christianity. Who knows?

Arlington, VA— A town hall-style meeting, meant to open dialogue between al-Qaida operatives and local Washington area leaders turned into a complete disaster Wednesday after several of the radical Muslims, who were flown to the U.S specifically for the debate, began shooting participants and setting off bombs when their poor English skills prevented them from getting their point across.

"It seemed like a great idea at the time," mediator Ted Koppel said afterwards from the Fairfax Medical Center where he was being treated for shrapnel wounds. "We thought, why not see if we could find some common ground with those people who seem to hate us most."

According to witnesses, there didn't seem to be much common ground from the onset, as the confused Arabs --who have spent the last 18 months holed up in a trench outside the Tora Bora mountains on the Pakistani/Afghanistan border --began screaming and waving large rifles and threatening to explode the suicide belts wrapped around their waists.

"I was really really scared," said Arlington resident Pam Sprague who had just asked the the panel if they could each elaborate on steps they were taking to bring about peaceful solution to their longtime hatred towards each other.

"They didn't even answer my question. They shot the guy holding the microphone. Then they started screaming 'Allahu Akbar' over and over and tossing grenades. They were obviously very frightened and angry."

The gunmen finally calmed down during a trust-building exercise when host Ted Koppel instructed Arlington Councilwoman Anne Soffe to let herself fall blindly backwards and into the arms of the al-Qaida panelist, who was sure to catch her. He didn't.

While the town hall meeting was considered to be total disaster by most standards, both sides agreed they would return to the table sometime in the not-too-distant future.

"The channels of communication are now open," Soffe said. "I have every confidence that should I fall blindly backwards again, one of those men will not try to shoot me."

We have the term "infidel" used by Jihadists. But, they say they are quoting from the Qur'an. Is that true?

If that is true, what have you been taught about "infidels" ?

What does the term "infidel" mean to you?

Have you been taught to believe that "infidels" are inferior to you and are deserving of less rights than those who subscribe to Islam?

I am curious on what Muslims think of "infidels", thank you.

In a great episode of 'The West Wing' a group of kids have a discussion with White House Communications Director regarding lowering the voting age. The teleplay raises some valid points:

1. They point out that the age 18 is arbitrary.

2. They note that if they get jobs at 16 years old, they have to pay income taxes -- but have no direct voice in how much they are taxed or how the money is used.

3. They note that kids breathe the same air and drink the same water that adults do -- but they have no direct voice in determing how these elements are protected and regulated.

4. The pre-empt any argument that they are not smart enough to make informed choices by noting that same argument was made by those who didn't want women or African-Americans to vote.

So what do you think? Should the voting age be lowered to 16?

alcohol should be illegal? I can't tell you how long and hard I've thought about this. So many peoples lives are ruined and taken by the use of alcohol. I have a friend who's son's life is controlled by alcohol and has come so close to death! Marijuana hasn't got the effect that alcohol does and it isn't likely to cause someone to get killed in a accident! Alcohol has taken too many innocent lives. Sure, there's the health issue, lung disease...but alcohol distroys the liver. Does anyone fell as strongly about this as I do?

The constitution establishes all kinds of limits on who Americans can elect. There are age requirements associated with federal elected positions. A president can only serve two terms. A president also must be born in America.

So why not entertain the notion of establishing term limits on Congress?

If there were terrible UNCOUNTED acts taking place, what was purpose of hiding them? I'd have been much more understanding if the military had simply told the TRUTH rather than having to find out the truth this way!

12-06) 17:31 PST WASHINGTON, (AP) --
U.S. military and intelligence officials have systematically underreported the violence in Iraq in order to suit the Bush administration's policy goals, the bipartisan Iraq Study Group said.

"Good policy is difficult to make when information is systematically collected in a way that minimizes its discrepancy with policy goals," the report said.
The panel pointed to one day last July when U.S. officials reported 93 attacks or significant acts of violence. "Yet a careful review of the reports for that single day brought to light 1,100 acts of violence," it said.
Some U.S. analysts have complained for months that the Pentagon's reports to Congress on conditions in Iraq have undercounted the violent episodes.

This is so sad.
