for school project. I would think they would either live undocumented or steal someones identity?

California just recently passed legislation that allows illegal immigrants to obtain drivers' licenses. They then apply for SS#'s. Not a smart move by the legislators in my opinion.

Most are fake numbers bought on the streets then when tax season comes they get another new number.
The other trick is to use a legitimate number from a family member, they just work opposing shifts so looks like you have two jobs, one person will work daytime and the other nightime.

Believe it or not, the majority of them are obtained illegally on the streets in the major cities - from white guys in little restaurants that take the photos and return in 20 minutes with all the id's they need!!
And then we whine about it.

.Fraudulent identification is easy to obtain and ranges in quality from very crude to the very sophisticated
They are stolen,
counterfeited,bought,borrowed and rented.
From both legal and illegal people.There are times when as many as 50 people in different parts of the country ,may be using the same card number.Its a multi million dollar side industry to the illegal alien problem.

Where I live, there is a flea market that makes fake SS numbers, green cards, and driver's licenses. There was another flea market that did the same thing but they got busted a few years ago.

They steal them or get them on the black market. Therefore how could they be good people? What good person destroys someones life by stealing their indentity?

You know what's funny? They can easily apply for and get them, even though legally they shouldn't be here. And food stamps and medical benefits................hmmmmm. they steal the ID"S usually from puerto ricans since they are considered american citizens. puerto ricans have spanish names and mexicans use that to steal their identity and work under their names. it happens all the time

anyone can actually apply for ss# or TIN. The only difference is that, if they don't have work permit then it will show on the card that they are not allowed to work.
