cannabis should not be legalised, for a number of facts, a few being, it is addictive weather you think so or not, it can lead to mental illness especially if you have a history in your family, it kills braincells, and makes your long term memory bad, so for the small amount of pleasure it gives you in the short term the long term affects are not really worth it.

Roughly one in 3 people carry the gene that decides whether a person who smokes cannabis will become psychotic. The problem occurs when two of these people hook up, and produce a baby with a double-dose of the genes - this child will develop mental health issues if they used cannabis. This is genuine genetic research - i'm not making it up. Personally, I think cannabis is safer than alcohol. However, I know that if I could just pop down the shops and buy some like I can a bottle of booze, i'd never have ANY money left lol. It's the relative difficulty of getting hold of it, and the danger of being caught because it's illegal, that prevents a lot of people from becoming psychologically addicted. I don't think alcohol drinks companies would suffer too much of a loss if cannabis was legalised, provided they were smart. If they immediately jumped on the band wagon and created their own cannabis products, then they would be fine. The chances of cannabis being made into a drink... well... it's possible, I suppose. Cannabis drops can be made, which can be put on the tongue, but they are expensive to make. Cannabis tablets can also be made. The only problem with making it into drinks would be that cannabis needs to come into contact with some kind of fat to get you high while being digested - if you just added cannabis drops it would be less effective, as these need to be absorbed through your tongue, not your stomach or guts. Illegal drug dealers wouldn't really lose out. Survival of the fittest, right? If cannabis becomes illegal, you start selling something else. OR, you continue to cultivate cannabis, and beat the price that people are paying in the shops - also, you're bound to get some concern over the idea that the government would 'add something' to the cannabis before selling it. Some people would like their weed organic. Cue local dealer! Drug dealers would now be able to grow legally, probably with a licence - they could still grow and sell if they had the determination to make it work. One of the biggest reasons for legalising cannabis would be the health and safety issues. Right now, there are a lot of problems with people selling tainted product - bud with glass beads (very small ones) in it is commonplace, and this can lead to lung problems if smoked. Some people are even just selling bits of hedge and pretending it's dope!

OF COURSE!!!! Anyone who actually knows anything about the plant (not drug) knows that it would make the world a better place. There are so many more advantages to marijuana than just the "high". To name a few: it is the best natural resourse on the planet (think about our paper, it comes from trees, that take years & years to grow for one tree. Where you could grow fields of marijuana that grow annually.) The fact that it can be used for so many products (clothing, (fibre-which is stronger than cotton)) And of course the medicinal uses. There are sooo many more positives to the plant, which I will not get into now but anyone who says marijuana is bad, does not know what they are talking about, and needs to open their eyes.

if we live in a free country, then we should have the right to put whatever we want into our body as long as we don't hurt anyone else in the process.
Smoking marijuana is a victimless crime, but when we make victimless crimes illegal, we are still creating real criminals. look at prohibition in the 1920's. the banning of alcohol gave rise to gang warfare and a lot of senseless killing. once america realized prohibition was a dumb idea, the killing over alcohol stopped and the people behind the manufacturing and distribution of alcohol became very successful businessmen.

No. If you cannot be a proper person without having to rely on a drug crutch, you should go and drown yourself.
