To a certain degree, yes. Our society stereotypes women as softer or weaker, so in order to compete with the men and overcome those assumptions, she probably goes out of her way to make sure she doesn't give any leeway to attaching that label to her.

She might also be hawkish because she believes that, but she's also shrewd/calculating (depending on how you view her) enough to be aware of how the game of impressions works in politics, and how it can work for you or be used against you.

Good grief. I don't even know what this means, exactly.

Is hawkish a good thing or a bad thing? Hawks are very watchful creatures.

Does being hawkish have anything to do with being a woman? Uh, not generally assumed.

Hillary is going to do whatever she has to, be whatever she has to. She is power-crazed.
