I was watching how the prison-industrial complex is big business. While corporations may be able to run a more efficient system, by their nature, they cut costs and maximize profit, making money for shareholders and CEOs who may care nothing about the quality of their prisons. A similar argument can be made for private military contractors operating abroad and defense contractors who manufacture arms for the military.

I never see this on the news, the taxpayers money for the President to use Air Force 1, to campaign for his fellow party members, the fuel and crews and the local airports being held in hold pattern so it can land. I think it is a bit unfair, don't you?

Several years ago there was an address where US citizens could send mail to our soldiers serving in the Middle East and/or elsewhere who might not have anyone to write to them and who would like to receive mail. Does anyone have that address or any information on this?
Thanks.

Just because someone is gay. That is not their fault. They can not change that. Why should they have to suffer, and not be premitted to marry their lover, just because Republican politicians have interpeted the Bibile, a book written 4 thousand years ago with no relevence in this matter today, as saying it is wrong?

Hi! I am a mexican citizen, living and working right across from El Paso, Texas. Unfortunately I have no American relatives who could "pull me" into the States. I have always wanted to join the US Air Force, and could do great things there, I am pretty sure. I would adopt the American citizenship if necessary. Hey! I have things to offer, too! I have an education, have a degree in Engineering and have strong experience in radio and fiber optics communications, can speak good English and mid German, have walked the world a bit and even worked as an English Teacher. I am 26, too, so I have not a lot of time to keep contemplating... BTW... I was born on July 4th, does it help somehow? Thanks!

Shop lifting?
if you have a shoplifting record just for one offense, for about 25 dollars, and it happened about 4 years ago, what does that mean for your future, i know it will probably be on your record, but does it interfer with getting a job or anything like that?

Immigration seems to be one of the hottest topics on Yahoo Answers. The funny thing is, it seems to bring out the worst in a lot of people. So many people have such strong feelings about it and express themselves in a way they don't seem to do in other answers on the site. I'm wondering where this anger comes from. How many people that answer these questions and go around clicking thumbs down on all the supporters of immigration have truly been affected by immigration? How many people have lost a job do to an immigrant? Maybe you've lost jobs due to companies outsourcing their work to a foreign country but to an immigrant? I don't support illegal immigration but I am definitely not angered to such an extent by it as so many people on here are. Immigration is what built this country. When did it become illegal? Was it ever legal when we crash landed and drove the Indians away? Our ancestors who came here by boat, did they all arrive legally? Please someone explain why you are so mad

I have asked many people if corporal punishment should return as other forms of "punishment" appear to be totally useless. Virtually everyone agrees with me but I know that no MP will ever try to get this passed in Parliament as it would not be "party line" How can this be described as a democratic country when peoples wishes are ignored ?

I'm going to sign up for college next fall and I won't have money to pay for classes upfront. I will get the G.I. Bill but must wait for the VA to send me a check once I first enroll full time(?). Do you think getting a student loan would be wise and then paying it off with my G.I. "checks"? I' m so frustrated my college doesn't have payment plans for veterans receiving VA benefits!

Lynne Cheney recently attacked CNN for distortions she hated broken borders and broken government..these were 2 documentaries aired recently....I think the real problem is....well first problem is obvious...She is married to a robot who eyes will roll back in his head to reveal glowing red lights...He drives around they country in camoflauge shooting old people calling it hunting.... and her penis is exactly 4 inches longer than her husbands...Is this the real issue?...I think now it is 6 months post 9/11 and this administration is being held to a standard in which they are not being held to...they are not use to the gloves coming off

If you studied your History, you would see that the Clinton Administration granted just as many contracts to Haliburton as the Bush Administration. This did happen in Serbia as well. Why is the media not pointing this out to the public?

At first Consul General E. Spencer Pratt said: "You need not worry about America. The American Congress made a solemn declaration desclaiming any desire to possess Cuba and promising to leave the country to the Cubans after having driven away the Spaniards and pacified the country. As in Cuba, so in the Philippines. Even more so, if possible."
But after they saw the that the Philippines could be an important market for finished goods and that the Philippines has the perfect location for a base to the rest of the East they decided to "free us and teach us to rule ourselves". Sound familiar?
