CHAD- I believe Mexico is a western democracy is it not? Also If passive resistance doen't work, maybe something non-passive should be tried. Their goverment should be afraid of their people, not the other way around.

sponch32 - I have no doubt about what you have said. However my concern is improving the situation in Mexico so that their citizens wouldn't have to come to the US illegally.
To EVERYONE: I rebuke everyone's commits that put down and insult Mexicans or any other nationalites. I have been to Mexico a few times in my life and have found their people very friendly and indeed hard working. My concern is the improvement of their politial / economical enviroment so that they can have the economic advantages that they seek in the US without leaving their own home.

I have often thought of this as well. If they don't do something, the flow of immigrants coming here isn't going to stop, and I don't understand why they wouldn't want to stay there and fix their govt. It may be hard yes, but we do it here...plenty of people are more than unhappy with the current administration, but we aren't all moving to Canada. Change can take time, these people aren't willing to put in the effort.

Mexico is a rich nation. The only problem is that the poor in that nation never see that wealth.Instead they are encouraged to go to the USA,by crossing the border illegally .This helps Mexico in many ways.First it eliminates a 10 to 20 million poor form Mexico, and it provides the Mexican economy with remittances of approximately $30 to $45 Billion dollars a year. They don't have to pay to school, the illegals children,or pay for their health care either. We Americans pay for it.
The Mexican government has historically been known to be very corrupt and so unless you have money the government doesn't work for ALL its people.Change must come about in Mexico if we the USA is ever going to be free of millions of illegal aliens.
The USA gives Mexico millions of dollars in aid each year and nothing changes in Mexico for the poor.Yes it is the responsibility of Mexico to provide for its own people and not to suck on the teats of entitlements that belong to legal American citizens. They march in our streets and desecrate our nations flag, while shouting their demands along with their hate of this country and its people.
I for one have had enough. No amnesty ,deportation, secure our borders with our military and A moratorium on all legal immigration until the illegal aliens are all removed and sent back to their home country's.All not just Mexican illegals.

That's a really tough question. The easy answer is that they should stay and change the government from within. I'm sure of the last 185 years they have tried (1821 independence). But what do you do when peaceful protest will potentially get you a bullet in the head? Passive resistance only works when you live in western democracies that allow that sort of thing. Had MLK of Gandhi lived in China....the movement wouldn't have gotten very far. Here is a simple, difficult to accept truth: any change in places like Mexico will have to happen from an outside power that forces change on them. The elite in that country are just to firmly entrenched for change to come from within.

I was in Iraq. There was not one Iraqi that said they wanted to leave Iraq. They want to stay to rebuild their country. The conditions in Iraq are much worse than Mexico. I have never seen an illegal that worked harder than an American. The problem in the US is that we let the unions get sloppy and not work for the working man. We let the unions go to crap. Now, especially in Los Angeles California, there are some illegals that are organizing and making demands openly. The illegals are too cowardly to go back to their own country and rebel.

Yes, if they are a proud and hard working people as they attest, they should be able to solve their problems in no time at all. Then we Americans can migrate illegally to Mexico by the millions, bring drugs, crime, and make babies, for a better life of course.

They talk the talk. Will they walk the walk? They should, but that would be too much work. It's easier to come here, where our forefathers have already set up a nice country and take what we should be giving to our children's future. The term is no longer illegal aliens or displaced immigrants or whatever they prefer to be called. Simply put "parasitic terrorist", plain and simple.

They went to the polls and voted OUT the political party that had been in power for 70+ years back when they voted IN Vicente Fox. That's been HOW MANY years back now? The Mexican people have TRIED to make a difference in their country by showing their dissatisfaction at the polls. Unfortunately, the choice they made let them down. It's no different than us trying to make changes here and expressing our unhappiness in our leaders by voting them out. We vote based on whom we believe is going to best help us and represent us. I don't know about you but more often than not I am bitterly disappointed in the "results" our own chosen leaders provide. If we, therefore, realize that we stand little chance at making a difference by "going to the polls" how do you propose the Mexican people will fare better than us? What would you suggest they do other than what they've already tried to do by expressing their unhappiness with the current government when they vote? I'm sure they would welcome educated suggestions.

yes they should.
they say they're hard working. if they worked hard in their own countries they would have better countries.
but their countries are toilets, so i think they lie about being hard workers!
mexico is the richest of all 3rd world countries. it has gold, silver, oil and tourism. they are the 4th richest oil nation in the world.
yet, they're not smart enough to dig for the gold and not smart enough to sell the oil and they kill the tourist.
go figure!
it's not our job to support these 3rd world peasants that sneak into this country and we must get them out!
