They don't do what we want them to do. They treat us like we are stupid and yet we continue to feel the need to have them around. Why?

Its a good question for any form of government other than democracy. If you feel your leaders are treating you like you are stupid, elect ones that do not

Because we do. Every human either feels like he/she is the best person to lead or that anyone else but he/she should lead, depending on the person's self-esteem. Without a leader--without a single focus--it will impossible to do anything. Imagine this, a bunch of your friends and you want to go out and eat, but each of you want to go somewhere different. How do you decide? Unless someone introduces a compromise or simply take charge, you will all starve and probably not be friends at the end of the night.

Power corrupts, there is no doubt about that; and good intention people end up becoming self-serving in the presence of power. However, it does not dismiss the fact that without leadership, we are just a bunch of individuals; it takes a leader to make us a group.

I hope that helps.

We are a tribal species. Tribes have leaders. Being social competitive animals the most dominant personality becomes a leader.
The human species would never have survived without a leader to organize and hunt other animals. Unfortunately after learning how survive off other animals we prey on another. We still have a conquering predatory instinct that needs to be satisfied. Good to have sports as a substitute.

It's not that we need a "leader" for any reason, but we need ONE two stand for the group in making decisions for all of us!

Without a leader, we would have no group, no solidarity and definetly no progress because each of us would tend to move in our own direction!

Leaders in the United States lead for the US and not any individual!

As a "leader" it wouldn't make sence for a president to fold because of the way part of the people feel!

we dont, its just kinda forced upon us. i mean at school we do team work where every1 is equal and there is no leader. of course this duznt always work, but when it does, its a beauty. this wouldnt work in the world because we need leadears to run the economy, state etc and keep order. even though theyre idiots half the time (maybe more) it prevents us from going into anarchy.

its just natue of the man(people) to have a person to blame. so if something goes wrong there on one person to blame.
or ppl are lazy to work out with their minds.
one more thing if a country or any nation doesnt have a leader it can go to chaos.
e.g USA, she thinks she is the leader of the wold and look at her going eveyrwhere to dig up oil of the world and trying to take up China.

Because ... anything else would be anarchy. That is one of the faults with a Democracy. Thank God that our founding Fathers chose to form our country as a Representative Republic and not a Democracy..

People don't always need a leader, take the syndicalist movement during the Spanish civil war for example.

I don't need a leader to tell me what to do. I need a leader who knows what to do due to his great track record of competence and inspires me to follow him by his great reasoning ability, not by threats, force, or lies of any sort.

I only require a government to provide three things: organize the military to protect the country in case another country or group attacks us, to provide police to protect me from criminals, and to protect the rights of its citizens to private property, free trade, and the enforcement of contracts.

my personal opinion regarding this post is just that i don't think that I would want to live where there isn't an organized standard of living. I know there are an innumerable amount of improvements to be had in our country, lets just say the current administration, however i would never want to leave this country for another because I know we are truly blessed for what this country was essentially founded for. anyways....most simply put, i don't want to live in an anarchist state, i don't know anyone who does.
