Jack Straw, former foreign secretary to Blair and now head of the house of commons, representing constituents in Blackburn England, has said he asks women to remove their veils when speaking at his constituency office. He points out that a female assistant is always present.
He has been quoted as saying he finds it hard to communicate with a person whose face is covered, and that he believes the veil is a sign of the dividedness in our society.

k, im from Canada and i'm just wondering how the training differs from the US to Canada... i know it's different aircraft, so you'd have to learn different systems but is the basic officer training and mindset the same?

Each morning, the 16,000 students in the Spring Independent School District in suburban Houston swipe their ID tags as they climb onto the school bus. A radio frequency tag tracks them, as it does when they arrive at school and as they leave the building.

Nearly 1,000 cameras watch them all day. Visitors are kept inside a "secure vestibule," a bulletproof glass room, until they're checked out.

Raptor Technologies, the Houston firm that sells the tracking system that Spring uses was born from the collapse of Enron. The firm had built a Web-based system to track visitors at the Houston energy company, but when Enron, amid financial scandal, went belly-up in 2002, the technology was adapted.

They're now in 2,020 schools in 212 districts. More schools may get the technology soon; the U.S. Justice Department recently chose Raptor as a pilot program for schools nationwide.

Do you guys realize that many illegal immmigrants have tax id's and pay taxes?

Why do you want to lump them all in one basket and accuse them of stealing our tax $$$ when you don't know for sure who is legal and who is not, who pays taxes and who doesn't?

I had a friend living with me, we had a dispute on Sunday and she left some belongings, the thing is that we workt together and she has told our co-workers of the incident, making me look bad.(she saying my husband and i stole from her). well I dont want to deal with this here at work and at home, I dont want to be mean and throw her stuff out, so I was wondering how long I should give her, I told her she needs to pick it up today by 7:00 is that too soon???

I have full custody of my daughter (age 9), occasionally my ex will send her live in boyfriend to pick her up for her alternating weekend visitation. The police in their city (they live an hour away) have been called to their house numerous times because of domestic disputes and although my daughter says he has never hurt her personally she does feel threatened because she has seen him evidently hit her mom and her mom's other child (not mine). Do I have to let her go if he shows up to pick her up for visitation or can I legally say No she isn't going unless her mom specifically picks her up?

Can I get fired from my job if I have a doctor's excuse???
I injured myself and had to go to the ER. They told me to be off work 1-2 days(I have an ankle injury and needed to rest) I went in to work and personally told my office manager that I needed to take the day off and possibly tomorrow. I handed her the note written by the ER doctor. She proceeded to tell me that I REALLY needed to be there, because I haven't worked there for more than 90 days and I could lose my job. My question is, can she fire me for missing work with a doctor's note??? By the way I live in Indiana and any websites that show me this answer would be helpful.
