My cat always sits on the newspaper when im reading it. He never wants to sit with me any other time. I bought this really expensive igloo once for him to sleep in, he slept in the box it came in! He also for some reason always tries to squeeze his way into shoe boxes when ive bought new shoes. He cant fit in properly because he is so fat and his bum hangs out. Now what is that all about?

Because they want to piss you off. They want to remind you of the law of Entropy where everything goes from order to disorder. By shedding their fur on your new clothes etc, they are showing you that nothing is permanent. For example, nothing stays clean forever. They want to teach you non-attachment. Ha ha... Honestly, I don't know why those beasts like to sully up brand spanking new things but that's just a little theory.
BTW - why did you post this question under Politics and Government?
Side note: I love cats. Love them to death. And I'm not bitter about them messing up my new stuff - well actually maybe sometimes.

because it smells like you, and they want to scent it, and "claim" it as theres, because its apart of you, when i was in high school my cat would sit on top of my homework because i was "paying to much attention to it" then to her, now i'm 24 and i have 2 cats that will get on top of any book i'm reading at the time, you can't help but love how close they want to be to you!

That's what cats do. They do not like change, and anything new has to be checked out, approved, and marked as such by the cat.

They like to leave their mark, like when they rub their faces on things so that their smell is on it. With paper they just like sitting in it because it's warm.
