it would hurt more than help . for one our taxes would be about 40% or more , why would a person that works that already has insurance want to be charged more than double in income tax . also the doctors wouldn't be paid as well thus not that good in quality . this is a great plan for the lazy person that doesn't want to work . i would support a government insurance program with a flat rate to help those that can't get their own due to health reasons and the high costs , but completely free for everyone would be a disaster

Free healthcare? Are you economically ignorant?
The question is, who should pay for healthcare? The person seeking it or the whole country? I'll give an example. Why should i, as a man, have to subsidize visits to the OB/GYN? That is essentially what public funding of healthcare does. It forces everyone to pay for the healthcare of a few.
Secondly, would you really want our government in charge of deciding who gets what care and what quality? Remember, this is the same government that thinks nothing of $600.00 toilet seats.

It is not free. With the government running it they will take a very big cut off the top. Look at welfare for each family they get around 20k a year it cost 80k to run it so 60k is the government cut.

By the way we do have free care. No one dies in the US because they can not pay. I know I see it each day I work.

There's no such thing as free anything honey. You'll pay for it and it'll be really crappy. Do a study of Canada's healthcare system. Or the healthcare system that is provided to our nation's military people and their families. It leave a lot to be desired.

To start off --Nothing is free. Someone has to pay for it. That is unless you can find a source for free drugs, buildings, doctors, nurses, equipment, and lots of other things.

Every time you get government involved you create more buracracy that accomplishes nothing yet costs out the wazoo.

Besides the last time anyone provided free health care was almost 2000 years ago and they crucified him.

I have heard both arguements and I think it would be a good idea. Right now, the poor get it for free and the rich can afford it. That leaves the middle class screwed unless they work for a big corp.. Why can't they have us pay into Medicare and abolish all insurance companies?

There isn't any health care that's free. Someone must pay the bills. Health care in the US would be nice but I don't think it's going to be free for everyone. Someone will be paying the bill. More then likely it will be the tax payer.

Bad idea. Someone has to pay for it. The doctors certainly will not work for free just to feel good about themselves.

At least for those who can't afford health insurance. We are the richest country in the world, we could at least act like it.
