So how long does it take(the years) to be a lawyer not the ones who go argue out in court, like a civil lawyer, the one that advise people. I was thinking after my business ba degree i want to major in law and i was wondering how long it takes. Thankyou. Hopefully 6 years. :/

This answer only applies to the U.S.

Most law schools start everyone out in the Fall, and control your courses completely in the first year. If you take summer courses, you might possibly cut a semester off the time and finish in 2.5 years, or you could use summer school to cut down your course load in the 2d and 3d years, and you could extend the time slightly by finishing in the third summer.

Anyway, the answer for law school by itself start to finish is 2.5 to 3.5 years.

I don't know of any way to cut that time down, your undergrad and graduate school courses taken outside of the law school probably will not apply. You can cut down the undergrad time with some majors, like Criminal Justice, that accept your first year of Law as the 4th year of the undergrad program, but that may vary by Law School.

It's the same degree and the same license whether you intend to practice in court or not. Unlike British systems, we do not have Barristers and Solicitors, it's just "Attorneys".

If you start in a summer session and then go full semesters and the next summer, it is possible to do it in about 24 months.

Most of us take at least 3 years.

Good luck to you

The requirements may vary a bit- and you may be able to transfer some of your credits- so your guess may be about right- d
