Perhaps we make the gun owners responsible for the guns that children are getting ahold of? And don't tell me that the biggest cause of this problem is theft...if it is, gun owners should be accountable for that, too...even insurance rates go up when a claim is made, regardless of who's fault it is. Shouldn't there be some ramification for irresponsible gun ownership? rights come with responsiblities...

It seems all conservative poloticians are always Pro Life, true? 90% of the USA beleives in God, and something like 75% are christian, so why are abortions still legal? Its seems strange to me that with neo-cons in power that they would have already ended this debate. Whats the deal?

I understand for some of the major crimes like murder & drug related felonies but my dad can't vote just because a f*cking check bounced or w/e and it was a felony charge. It doesn't make any sense to me he should be able to vote he is an honest hard working American and deserves the right to vote. Just because he had a rough time in his past does not make him a bad person.

SHREVEPORT, La. A Shreveport Marine, with barely a year of service under his belt, has been killed in an illegal war in Iraq.

Mayor Ray Nagin wants a “chocolate” New Orleans
On MLK Day, a day named in honor of a man who fought for equality, New Orleans Mayor and all-around bigot Ray Nagin called for a “chocolate New Orleans” - in front of a crowd that had gathered at City Hall for a MLK Day march:

“We ask black people … It’s time for us to come together. It’s time for us to rebuild New Orleans — the one that should be a chocolate New Orleans,” Nagin said Monday. “This city will be a majority African American city.
And in what could only be characterized as an imitation of Pat Robertson, Nagin added:

It’s the way God wants it to be. You can’t have New Orleans no other way. It wouldn’t be New Orleans.”

- He wants a chocolate New Orleans? Let's let Neslte build it for them then - We all know Nestle makes the very best chocolate!

It would laughable if it weren't such a serious matter. Democrats expect perfection out of Republicans but they never seem to notice when one of their own screws up/ or sideways/ or whatever.

Everyone will remember the name Mark Foley and what he did but Congressman Mel Reynolds(d) gets barely any mention. Why would the media saturate itself in a republican doing something disgraceful but not a dem who did something more disgraceful.

This not a racist post but I am just wondering

In 1985, Abramoff joined Citizens for America, a pro-Reagan group that helped Oliver North build support for the Nicaraguan contras. Citizens for America staged an unprecedented meeting of anti-Communist rebel leaders known as the Democratic International in Jamba, Angola. This conference included leaders of the Mujahedeen from Afghanistan, UNITA from Angola, the Contras from Nicaragua, and opposition groups from Laos. Out of this largely ceremonial conference came the International Freedom Foundation. Abramoff helped to organize, and also attended the conference.

Abramoff's membership ended on a sour note when Citizens for America's sponsor Lewis Lehrman, a former New York gubernatorial candidate, concluded that Abramoff had spent his money carelessly.

Reagan appointment

In 1986, Abramoff was appointed by President Ronald Reagan as a member of the United States Holocaust Memorial Council.

According to research released today by the Institute for Grocery Distribution (IGD), a retail think-tank, one in five teenagers and one in nine adults would be willing to have a microchip implanted to pay shoping bills and help to prevent card or identity fraud and muggings. A quick scan of the arm would connect immediately to bank details and payments could be made swiftly.

Geraldine Padbury, senior business analyst at IGD, accepts that many consumers will have concerns about their privacy, but says that teenagers, the next generation of shoppers, will have far fewer concerns about using the body chips.

“With teenagers happy to use MySpace (the networking website) and blogs to share details of their private lives, there may be less concern surrounding privacy than for other generations.”

Would you take the chip?

I don't like republicans do in general, but one congressman can affect the whole republican party's polls with an near-sex scandal? That's kinda ridiculous don't you think. Its like implying that all republicans were in on sending sexy emails to minors.

I feel this is another indication that democracy or mobocracy is imperfect. You want to let the majority make big decisions, but you don't make them take time out to learn the issues. Therefore myths, TV campaign soundbytes, and religion take center stage. I think Americans should be required to study for 1 week out of the year on all major issues and reading viewpoints from both sides. That would be a true democracy. Right now, I feel it is a oligarchy struggling to please the whims of a mobocracy.

I love America though.
