I have a friend who got into some legal trouble. Tomorrow is the court date and he is really worried about going to jail. Maximum penalty would be 1 year in jail but it is his first offense and he wants to try to apply for AR. His attorney has already let him know the judge is really against him applying for AR and the victim is coming to court to request that he does not get the 1st timers sentence.

His crime was being in his own home pleasuring himself with the blinds open. He did not see the nosey neighbor looking our her window watching until after it had been taking place for a while. At that point he thought she was just into it but next thing he knows the police show up. Sorry to be graphic but he is very worried and I need to know whether I can comfort him by saying "Don't worry, there is really little chance of going to jail over this" HELP!!!

This is not a simple issue for the reason that we are in a land that used to belongs to Mexicans, Mexicans do not see it as an illegal action to cross the border because they still see this land as theirs. Not too long US used to pay Mexicans to come to this side and help. Most Mexicans that live in Mexico still have family that owns land here, so the wall is a new thing and remember it was the corrupt Mexican government that sold the land and not their people. US took advantage of the unsteady government to "buy" this land. And I am not going to say STEAL because some of you are getting offended.

Think about it.

Some of the so called smartest people, at times, are the dumbest.

What do you think?

A withdrawal from Iraq now would be seen as a victory for the terrorists and their numbers would grow even more rapidly. Not to mention if we pulled out now we would lose what little world support our government has and world support, I feel, is the only way we can destroy terror. Iraq may not have been the place to start this fight against the terror network, but amidst the civil war over there a lot of terrorists are plotting against us and if we would revamp out militaries goal of occupation, which is slow, and upgrade it to more of a search and destroy type operation, and we defeated the terror network in Iraq, it could very well cripple them, who really knows how many resources they have in Iraq. My point is that if you think the terror network is getting stronger due to the war in Iraq, imagine how strong it would get if they thought they had beaten us in our own war. Cleanse the country of evil, then set up the Democracy, what do you all think? Respectful criticism only please.

Do Republicans not care that our children will have to pay the $9 trillion in debt? Well, maybe not, as they don't care about sending them to Iraq to die.

If Bush can steal election like you claim, why is the House and Senate race so close. Shouldn't they easily be able to steal 40 seats?

Thanks Rush for pointing this out.

This explanation of the framers' intent with the second amendment is laughable. I love how he does not quote the second amendment itself but rather puts quotes around language that he made up. I call shenanigans.

Have a read for yourself:

"A very, very brave lawyer, with a couple of weeks of legal experience should be able to argue successfully against the 'Right to bear arms' section of the American Constitution, since it says, in effect, "...shall have the right bear arms in the absence of a standing army..." In other words, the men who wrote the document, realising that their new country did not yet have a formal, permanent army, made provision for a properly constituted civilian militia to bear arms.

Obviously their thinking was that an armed militia would act as a defence should their country be attacked by foreign forces, and as soon as the US Army was formally established the need for armed civilians would disappear."

I have been working in the NHS legally for 2 years now, in a job where no local person applied for. I pay my taxes, I am not eligible for public funds and I work hard. I am here because the money is good and I think my kids will have better opportunities in life. The way I am treated at work and in the society makes me think why I am doing this job for which I am overqualified. I had never thought people would consider me so alien that they wouldnt share a seat with me in a bus or train. If I go back, I will make much less money but will get much more respect. Should I go back or stay here for the money and the kids?

If the gov't spends $500 per abortion (just a guestimate) and instead of paying that they paid for a pack of condoms and gave the rest of the $$$ to the taxpayers, how much $$$ would you receive?

Get those calculators humming!

I have had a few issues with my landlord's husband intervening on a few issues that should have been between myself and the landlord. He is a very over bearing and unreasonable person and makes threatening implications about their rights as landlords. Without going into too much detail, I just need to find out exactly what rights he does have. He holds no property rights, the apartment building is owned by my landlord (his wife) and her ex-husband. However, any issue that has arised, this new husband has had some asinine part in whatever decision is made to resolve it. So does anyone out there know, according to NY state law, exactly where does he stand in his authority over what goes on in my apartment? Thanks!!

When pondering a question in morality and ethics I sometimes use a simple thought experiment to help me visualize the implications of the question:
What if everybody did it every time?

In this case:

What would the effect on society be if every unwanted pregnancy were terminated?

In the wake of school shootings in Wisconsin, Colorado and Pennsylvania during the last two weeks, a state legislator says he plans to introduce legislation that would allow teachers, principals, administrators and other school personnel to carry concealed weapons.

Rep. Frank Lasee, a Republican, said Wednesday that, while his idea may not be politically correct, it has worked effectively in other countries.

"To make our schools safe for our students to learn, all options should be on the table," he said. "Israel and Thailand have well-trained teachers carrying weapons and keeping their children safe from harm. It can work in Wisconsin."

In Thailand, where officials have been waging a bloody fight with Muslim separatists for the last two years, some teach
