Americans were on both sides in the Civil War, so we can say they both won and lost the war. The Repubs. made sure we lost the Vietnam war, when they realized we could never win it. The Bay of Pigs was not techically a war, but in practice it was a war like Iraq, undeclared. The war in Iraq was lost quickly - can we win it back? Who knows?

Or does it require civil, non-violent action against unjustice to be considered a patriot?

If our FF waved flags and bought "we support our troops" ribbons, would America even exist?

OTTAWA (CP) - Michaelle Jean has a novel solution to Canada's national identity question: domestic travel subsidies.

Canada's 27th Governor General is about to enter her second year in office after 12 months spent criss-crossing her adopted nation.

"It was an incredible privilege to be able to discover this country," Jean said in interview in advance of Wednesday's one-year anniversary of her installation at Rideau Hall.

Quebecers, said the Haitian-born Montrealer, "are sometimes very disconnected from the rest of Canada." And residents of Winnipeg or Yellowknife or Halifax little realize how much their common concerns and desires mesh with those of Canadians in Chicoutimi or St. John's or Victoria.

I would have no problem with an American citizen.Liberal, Moderate ,Green Party, conservative or what ever, ever calling our President a devil(free speech). But how dare that knuckle draggin' Neanderthal come to American soil and call our President "El Diablo".He comes here and exercises free speech at a U.N meeting.A right that he doesn't even bestow on his own countrymen.I was just wondering what the average American thought about that?

stay for our our military reasons, not as an occupier or to support the government of Iraq (only in that we could do strikes on insurgents as we wished)...set up a few large bases. The reason I say leave is that Iran, Venzuela, and N. Korea are using the fact that we have committed the bulk of our military to years in Iraq and it would be impossible for us to commit to another theatre (we don't even have 1/2 of the NATO troops currently stationed in Afghanistan). The longer this goes on, the more unsafe we will be from other threats. The Neo-cons got us into a war, maybe there are reasons we should be there and maybe we shouldn't have gone...But the fact is that the US is in a new sort of world war and we aren't prepared for it physically or emotionally...I say dump the Iraqis if they don't get it together and do what we need to survive...we may have to cut our losses and reform. The Administration is very bullheaded and we lead us to ruin with their current mind set.

3 days ago a 5 yr old child was savagely and brutally gang raped
in batley in west yorkshire. It was never reported in the papers even though the gang is still at large. We should have been warned at least........The media is scared of stirring up more racial hatred i think because the men involved were Asians.

For all you bush heads out there, do you seriously believe that having a BJ is worse than sending 3k Americans and 150k iraqis and afghanis to their deaths?

If you want to talk about embarassment to the country, are Clinton's sexcapades worse than Bush's poor grammar, social faux pas's, and ignorance of world affairs? Can you point me to any world leader except ours where this is true?

when a truck, driving in the wrong direction on Meadowbrook Highway on Long Island, crashed into it killing both the limo driver and the 7 year old flower girl, decapitating her. Her mother was seen cradling her head on the side of the road. The driver of the truck was drunk and fell unconscious after the accident. He admitted to not caring about the outcome of his actions. He was from out of state, didn't have a license and had been arrested in his home state twice for driving drunk in the wrong direction on the highway and once for driving drunk.

His mother says "It was just an accident".

This is a true story and hit home for everyone here. The trial just started. What do you think should happen to this guy?

I leave in a couple days (Sept. 25th) for Lackland for basic training and I'm a little worried. I am 18 years old, 6' 2", and 150 lbs [tall and skinny] and I can run my 1.5 mile in 13:10. I can do 52 crunches in 2 minutes. The thing I am worried about is that I am only able to do about thirty push-ups in 2 minutes. I work on them every day and I can only improve by one or two every week. Do you think over the 6 weeks I'm there, I'll be able to improve by 15 or 20 more and pass at the end? Also, if you have any advice, and I mean any, could you pass it along? I'm not nervous, I'm actually excited, but I just want to really go in prepared. Thanks alot!
