I think that the children of any politician that votes for a war should be sent to that war.

I'm glad that your family members who went have returned safely, and of course, we all -- those of us who do pray -- pray for the safe return of those who are there and those who will be there.
The thing that saddens me most about the whole thing is that most people really don't understand the necessity that we be there in the first place.
I lived in the Middle East for five years and saw first hand the carnage that took place. I would have coffee on my back porch watching the sun come up as F-15s flew over my head fully laden with missiles and then returned empty. I saw and experienced too much to be able to sit back glibly and say, "It's all for oil" and "it's a scare tactic."
When I went there - of my own free will - I had one set of opinions. By the time I came back, I had a totally different set of eyes towards the whole Middle East crisis and I am glad we are there. It IS necessary. It IS right. It IS just.
Politicians don't send their kids because they can't. There is no draft, and military service is not compulsory. A senator cannot force his kids into the military to bolster his constiuency, just like he cannot force his kids to stay out if they choose to join.

this is what iv`e been saying all along in the past if a country wanted a war the king was there at the front waving a flag and leading their troops not hiding at home like cowards sending other peoples children to die and for something they have no say in so yes all the warmongers and their family should be made to live in the middle of it funny enough if that was the rule i think there would be no more war

I am sick of these questions. I am in the forces, my family have been in the forces.
We all signed up because we want to defend Queen, country and democracy.
There has to be a person to lead us, does anyone that is not in the forces actually understand what we are doing over there or in Afganistan??
Where was everyone when we were in Northern Ireland under threat?
I was 13 years old when my brother was over there for the 3rd time Yes I was worried but mostly proud because he believes in his oath.
Will you stand there and say we should not have interfered when Hitler was rampaging across Europe, we DID NOT know about the concentration camps until after the war.
The same thing happened in the war zones we are in now.
Before you criticise the man in the hot seat and try to bully him in to sending his children there ( who just might sign up) put your money where your mouth is and sign up your self
Oh and by the way let me know when you do it and I'll be waiting to give you the grand tour.

I think hes the type of person who would be packing there bags for them and waving them off at the station saying your doing it for your country boys! I think we need to stick Tony Blair and Gordon Brown in Iraq with a few of the other wankers from politics and then ask them if the war was a good idea after all!

Not me. Tony Blairs children are not responsible for HIS actions.
If any one with children makes a dreadful mistake in life, should their children pay the price????? Think about it...................
I too have a family member in Iraq.

Tony Blair should go to Iraq. And his entire cabinet, and the other parties too.

Yep, Euan's old enough. If he thinks the war in Iraq is perfectly fine and dandy, let him send his own son. Or better, go himself.

Why don't you go? Do you have all of the answers. Everyone in the military is the child of someone, somewhere. Should we never, then, send someone's child into battle? I don't think so. Mr. Blair's children live in a free country, and they should do what they wish with their lives. And without your interference.
