When the program was first implemented, it was necessary. But the time has come to end it. It was meant to counter racism, and it did, for awhile. Now it promotes more racism than it counters. The face of racism has changed in a way that affirmative action cannot hope to cope with. At the very least, it does not recognize that whites can be victims of racism, too...so it is a fundamentally racist approach to the problem.

I feel that positive action / affirmative action makes it far easier for those who wish to stir up race hate but that is perhaps more the result of the way in which the positive action / affirmative action is done

The concept can be applied to any group including disabled / financially socioecomomicly disadvantaged for the right reasons and race can be just one facet of it

When you apply it in large corporations / government and impose quotas the majority perceive that this has artifically raised the hurdle height or in fact it actually does this which leads to the position of looking for Turkeys to vote for Thanksgiving.

You will never get a homogeneous mixture everywhere, sometimes perhaps we should accept that rather than go back unpicking historical rights and wrongs to arbitary dates in history that are beyong living memory

No, it is an effort to counter the effects of racism. If there was no racism there would be no need for affirmative action.

AS an anti-racist I think affirmative action does more harm than good to my cause.

in some ways yes, if someone of one race gets a job or into college only because of the color of their skin and they aren't qualified to be there then yes. it also sets people up for failure, they are only being let in because of the color of their skin.
