stay for our our military reasons, not as an occupier or to support the government of Iraq (only in that we could do strikes on insurgents as we wished)...set up a few large bases. The reason I say leave is that Iran, Venzuela, and N. Korea are using the fact that we have committed the bulk of our military to years in Iraq and it would be impossible for us to commit to another theatre (we don't even have 1/2 of the NATO troops currently stationed in Afghanistan). The longer this goes on, the more unsafe we will be from other threats. The Neo-cons got us into a war, maybe there are reasons we should be there and maybe we shouldn't have gone...But the fact is that the US is in a new sort of world war and we aren't prepared for it physically or emotionally...I say dump the Iraqis if they don't get it together and do what we need to survive...we may have to cut our losses and reform. The Administration is very bullheaded and we lead us to ruin with their current mind set.

What you or I "think" about what is going on--doesn't amount to a tinker's damn....
The fate of this little adventure is now in the hands of the very people who brought it to us to begin with...and they do not care to end it....for it is in prepetual war that the military-industrial complex makes it's biggest profits and in the military itself--that is where the biggest inroads are laid into broadening the scope of influence and power---politically it is advantageous for the incumbants to preach not changing course for the removal of them "while we are at war" would "send the wrong message" and create morale problems within our troops etc etc etc----

This thing is destined to continue for a long long long time---people might as well get set for it----the enemy has an endless supply of bodies to sling into this thing from the hosts of people who are hungry to fulfill what they have been brought up to believe in the way of personal sacrifice in the name of their religion--and the shear fact that many of them have nothing else to hold on to anyway----and having a lot to do with the negative views brought to the table by the way in which this thing has been handled to begin with

So--bottom line---settle in for the journey here my friend---the people in this country were duped into supporting something that had no clear end-game in sight to begin with---and now that it is in the works---it will be with us for a very very long time

You should thank your lucky stars, you are still alive and there have been no terrorist attacks in this country.. Perhaps you need to be a bit more confident in the military advisers and the planning that is taking place. Rather than follow the ones who continue to keep their heads in the sand. Not event recognizing the dangers that are still out there, just waiting for the opportunity to do more damage.

How anyone can't see what is taking place around the world, then condemning what is being done to slow it down or eliminate it, leaves one in a quandary as what their reasoning really is.

Nothing in your question is accurate. The US has 1.2 million people in the military on active duty. There are another 500,000 in the reserves and national guard. There are 140,000 military in Iraq. While it is unfortunate that soldiers get killed or injured, some people over react to the numbers and ignore the carnage on our highways. Do you get upset when 41,000 people get killed, every year, on our highways? How about 600,000 injuries from auto accidents every year? Is that OK with you.
Cut and run is the liberal mantra. It is the politically correct term to use when one is uncomfortable with the adequate description: coward.
If you want to run the government, get yourself elected President. Airing your kind of complaint gives aid and comfort to the enemy. It happened in Vietnam. The President and our military learned from history. I certainly hope history does not repeat itself.
If you are unhappy with the way things are going, take your complaints to the Islamo-fascist muslims who are killing themselves and each other. There is where the problem lies.

You almost had me until the neo-con name calling crap......
can't you make a point without slandering your opposition...just ask the question and state your facts.....
You have a good and very valid point about being too over-extended to commit to other areas of high interest.....
but again, you lost me with petty editorializing
