It seems that in Murrow's day- TV news was more of a civics lesson, and had the purpose of education.

Today, news seems to have more entertainment value.

Do you believe new was better in Murrow's day....or today?

Critics conceded a setback but argued that it would be temporary. They said enforcement alone won't stop illegal immigration but will alienate Latino voters, the nation's fastest-growing voter bloc. They said it will turn Republicans into a minority party, much as when former Gov. Pete Wilson won re-election in 1994 on an anti-immigrant platform that ultimately helped make California a Democratic-majority state.

For now, however, the political tide clearly favors enforcement first, legalization later.

"Not even a year ago, if you talked about a fence, you were an extremist who wanted to wall off the United States," said Rosemary Jenks, government affairs director for Numbers USA, a group opposing immigration on population grounds. "Now the fence is a no-brainer."

Okay I know this is a generalization but speaking about the majority of conservatives...

Evolution - factual - conservatives deny it.

Global warming - at first denied it was happening, now denying man contributes to it despite overwhelming evidence.

Homosexuality exists - conservatives claim it's a lifestyle choice.

What's up with that?

Even though Earth goes through natural stages of change....it's important to remember that all the pollution, and the multiple carbons stay in the atmosphere!

Do you believe in global warming, or is it something to scare people?

Gordon Brown and the Labour party used to accuse the Conservative Government of 'selling the family silver' when privatisation measures were introduced. They then enthusiastically started privatisations themselves and rather ironically sold a large part of British gold reserves for rock bottom prices. Now that gold prices are so much higher - don't they look a bit stupid and shortsighted?

Man made global warming is here. It is a fact. As much a fact as gravity. Worse still the most recent studies in the polar caps show that it is accelerating at an alarming rate, possibly worse than some of the less optimistic predictions. It may or may not be possible to stop/reverse.

Added to the problem itself is the fact that each country is operating in competition with every other. For one country to make the necessary changes proportional to its contribution, that would put that country at an enormous economic disadvantage, leading economic collapse and ultimately massive loss of life. Therefore only unilateral agreement will allow effective counter warming action to be taken. Even then countries will flout their commitments in order to give themselves an economic advantage. Add to this fact that some counties rely soley on sale of global-warming products for their survival, additionally politicians of other countries are in their 'pockets'. Do we really have a chance?

a company is taking us to court to make us bankrupt, is there any way we can get to keep our home? it started when we gave a car back to a company because we didnt need it anymore. we offered them a cheque for £4,500 but they sent it back saying it not enough because of insurances that where attached to the contract. if we payed the balance off on our car then apparently we would have to still pay for these insurances even though the car was ours and we didnt need them anymore. that is why we gave it back.we didnt hear off this company again till 6-8weeks ago when they said they going to make us bankrupt and we will lose everything including our home. we offered to make monthly payments but they refused saying that they need the full amount of £4000. we are not in a position to do this because my husband has just gone back to work after being on the sick for 7weeks. we are willing to do anything to keep our home... please can anyone help?

Do you not woory that in a short time that using torture will ecome a tool for everyday interogation in the United states .
What if we arrest a known drug dealer but some how the shipment of 2 pounds of meth is missing .Do we use torture to make him tell us what we want to know .After all it will kill people .Same if he is dealing perscription drugs like methadone for pain which is known to kill people .
See if a kidnapper is caught but the child is still not found do we use torture .
Once we allow it in any form to corrupt our legal system and method of interogation it will be abused by people who say yeah but this guy you know we had to to get the information or people would have died .
I fear any nation that allows torture and now that my own does i fear for all those people in the future who will give false confessions and be subjected to hours and hours of torture in a vain attempt to get what we want out of them .
I understand that our troops are and have been treated badly .
