Why are conservatives so fact averse?

Okay I know this is a generalization but speaking about the majority of conservatives...


Evolution - factual - conservatives deny it.

Global warming - at first denied it was happening, now denying man contributes to it despite overwhelming evidence.

Homosexuality exists - conservatives claim it's a lifestyle choice.

What's up with that?

Apparently you are short on facts.

Few Conservatives deny Evolution. They just attribute it to a Divine Intent.

There's more evidence against Global Warming than in support of it, if you check the credentials of the people that are making the claims. Al Gore is not an expert, and has no data. His book is evidence only of the gullibility of anyone that bought it.

The experts are split on whether homosexuality is a choice or not, even homosexuals aren't sure, since some of them do occassionally attempt to seduce straight people. Conservatives are probably no more uniform in what they believe than any other group.

By the way, I'm not a Conservative, I'm a Libertarian. I think that both Conservatives and Liberals have problems distinguishing facts from popular opinions, but it's Liberals that run from facts that don't fit their paradigm of the world.

So when people thought the world was flat and never lost sight of the shore line what do you say about that .
The very nature of mans fears drive him to certain UN-natural believes .God made the universe and everything in it and if he wants the rock to be 3 billion years old it is .Why is it conservatives can not see how ridiculous this sounds .But what if it is true .Suppose for a moment that carbon dating is flawed and can not be believed or maybe that God knew we would be curious and placed the skeletons of many different life forms in the ground for us to discover .
God can do anything ,remember your early Indoctrination to religion and the almighty .This gives credence to many conservative views and allows for anything to happen and be believed .
All knowledge is changing to some degree but we know more today then at any time in history and what has it gotten us .
We still have millions die everyday of famine and decease so what has God done to fix this .He use to get the blame for all illness and know we know what caused the plagues and the dark ages , and famines .
It was global catastrophe of one kind or another volcanic or earth quake Many things blamed on God he did not do .
So i see no evidence of God or his so called profits .
What i see is people who want peace and the world to get along .When it was OK to have slaves the bible prescribe the manner in which one should treat a slave .It is a guide book to treating all people with common courtesy and decency and allowed the practices of the majority of the people .
This is how governments run today in many nations .Our own government in the U.S.A. has brought back torture as a means to an end .Soon we will torture gay men to give up there lovers location so he can be arrested and treated for his condition and left to bake above ground on the surface which will be 145 degrees in the shade .But conserative religious fanatics will still say God is coming soon repent and get right with Jesus for the time as at hand .What a load of crap .

Im a Catholic Conservative..

I beleive evolution happens to a point..Not like Darwin claimed though..i dont believe we evolved from water creatures or apes or anything..I beleive what he said about Isolation..Like a flock of birds get split up on 2 islands..And the only thing for them to eat on one island is really hard..They would eventually develop sharper or bigger beaks..

Global Warming- Not really strong on the subject..The world is getting 1 degree hoter every year because of "Global Warming"..Whats the problem w/ this? If you say "Evolution is a fact" (Which its a theory by then way) wont we just evolve to our new envirnments since its changing slowly?

Homosexuality- Is a sin..Forget what verse but it the chapter starts w/ an I, (The Bible), "If a man shall lay w/ a man, as he lays w/ a women, then those men shall have their heads at their feet surrounded in blood" (Not the exact words but yeah)..If God makes it a sin..Then he wouldnt make people gay..Thats their choice..And all gays are going to Hell..Why should we allow people to get married, have gay sex? Thats pretty much helping them go to Hell, if you make it legal..

Evolution is proven, the influenza virus evolves annually and that is enough proof for me. Evolution does not explain everything. The fact is, that my church is right and everyone else's is wrong (sic).

I will fight for equal rights for homosexuals, but I disagree with their "choice" as being as unnatural as abstinence and abortion, and contra-survival for them.

Global warming is based on too many assumptions. We are at the tail end of an ice age, and while I believe it is a possibility, I know of absolutely nobody who has stopped burning fossil fuels because of it.

Homosexuality is a behavioral choice. To engage in an act vs. innate or learned behavior is politisizing the issue. While you may not choose your sexual orientation, you choose to engage in consumation of a homosexual act! I can not choose wether or not if I want to be African-American.

Evolution is still a theory, it is not proven fact. (Lack of education alert)

Global warming is happening, but not as much from humans as the chickenlittles claim. If humans are doing it, explain the global warming on mars and venus that has been observed. I doubt my suv is driving up there. It is merely the earth warming due to increased solar activity. Humans may accent it some, but thats all. Think of how the waeather was when the vikings settled Greenland, same thing.

You are confusing the religious right and neo-cons with conservatives (Lack of education alert) please stop doing that.

Evolution is a theory.. it hasn't been proven.. I'm not saying I'm positive it's false, but a lot of evolutionists act like they are 100% positive that it's true..

Global Warming is a problem, but I believe God will step in and take control if things get too bad...

Homosexuality is a lifestyle choice.. they might have natural tendencies to live that way, but they still have the choice about whether or not to act on those tendencies.. some people have deep desires to rape and murder children, but that doesn't mean they should act on those impulses.. the ability to show self control is what sets humans apart from the rest of creation..

You are dealing with the more mentally deficient of the population when you are dealing with conservatives, after all they voted not once but twice for a coke snorting, alcoholic with no morals. If Rush Limbaugh says it then they believe it and it must be true. So they repeat it, they only look at one source of news, faux news and everybody knows how bias that is, everyone that is but the right wing.
