Even though Earth goes through natural stages of change....it's important to remember that all the pollution, and the multiple carbons stay in the atmosphere!

Do you believe in global warming, or is it something to scare people?

As for the religion stuff...I'm a Catholic, and I believe in Global Warming. A lot of religous leaders also believe in it.

It's frighteningly real. If we continue pumping noxious gasses into the atmosphere, something has got to give. Mother Nature coined the phrase: What goes round, comes round. She will not be trifled with.

Well I wasn't around in the 70's but I have heard that they feared Global cooling. Even said we were entering the first stages of the New Ice Age.. Now here we are 30+ years later and we had No ice age and now they fear Global warming. I honestly think all they can do at best is Guess. This earth has been around Millions if not Billions of years. Man has been here for what Thousands. Science fears what they can't explain. That leaves them to sometimes invent theroies.

Apparantly only American paychecks depend on it not being true.

It is true that there have been cycles of cooling and warming... But you can't deny the accelerating effect of pollution on global warming. If the earth is also heating up because of natural reasons, then it is even more urgent to stop helping the heating up with pollution.

Good question - it relates to the one I just asked about why certain "people" are fact averse. The GOP has politicized science. No other advanced country in the world believes that politicians know more about a given scientific issue than the actual scientific experts who have been working on it. It's kind of sad really to see our great country get so dumbed down for political gain...

yeah I believe Global warming is cyclic! and there isn't a damn thing we're going to be able to do about it, other than some feel good measures that will not do anything about it either.

For God's sake the polar caps on Mars are melting too. Doesn't that mean anything? Could it be that the real cause is the Sun?
Some day the sun is going to explode, and I guarantee you that somebody Like Gore will try to profit from it before it kills us all.
But then his bumper sticker reads...."whoever dies with the most money from trickery wins"

It's a head in the sand protection method. They are afraid to face this fact because it is too awesomely scary to think we are actually ruining the planet. I once heard a professor talk about how adrenaline kicks in when we think of something that may or may not happen such as a car accident or another terrorist attack, but not with environmental damage event though it IS happening. This is because the results aren't immediate. Too bad, because it is far more real and just as scary. It's not a matter of believing; it's a matter of understanding the science.

It took people thousands of years to believe the earth was round and that it went around the sun instead of vice versa.
The natural state of mankind is ignorance and it takes a long long time for new facts to permeate the conciousness. This is the same principle that keeps religions in business.

Because while modern data is accurate, the data from the past is mostly guesswork.

We are still at the tail end of an iceage.

What are you doing to stop global warming? What do you want the government to do? Horse drawn ambulances?

As they say, it's difficult to get a man to believe something when his paycheck depends on him not believing it.

So, we have major companies whose livelihood depends on us continuing to use oil, funding pseudo-science that is swallowed up by people who never paid attention in school, but listen religiously to talk radio.

It's the single greatest threat to life on earth.

Many of those people who don't recognize global warming are paid propagandists spreading misinformation. The rest are conservatives who no longer use logic and reason to decide things for themselves. They just take the word of their pet authorities, the paid propagandists.
