they had a House committee hearing on "guest worker" programs. It was called G.W. program:impact on the American worker and U.S. immigration policy.Chairman McKeon opened the meeting with the "need for a guest worker program". Ranking Minority member Miller, remarked that we must first and formost start with enforcement, protecting our borders, and then the AMERICAN worker. "Mr Martin argued that the guest workers admitted to the U.S. has grown rapidly over two decades. The number admitted in 2004 was more than twice the number admitted in 1985. He argued against admitting any more, stating that they have a negative impact on the wages of American workers. Dr. Martin testified, that current GW programs, were not intended or structured,to be temporary in nature. He said GW prog.had distorted the labor market because employers had begun to depend on steady supply of cheap labor. There was some discussion about the Senate bill, that provided for g.w.'s to be paid a prevailing wage.

I will be eligible to apply for an American Citizenship on May 2007 (Yes, it will be five years by then!). The thing is, by May 2007, I will be in Japan studying through a study abroad program (I will start my stay in Japan on January 2007). So, before hitting the 6 month mark, is there a way I can file my Citizenship while overseas? And even if I am allowed to apply while overseas before the 6 month limit, I will then still be in Japan (actually until the end of the year or so), so will my time outside the country WHILE my application is being processed count for the 6 months? Will that make me ineligible? Your answers are greatly appreciated and any additional info that you think I should know is very much welcome!

**Just adding this in case it would help: I would go to Japan and study under Tourist Visa from January to March. Then I will fly back to the USA, process my Student Visa and go back in April to resume my studies and stay LONG TERM in Japan.**

I recently read an article about illegals crossing the border and damaging the fences owned by ranchers causing them cattle loss and monetary damages.

Some ranchers are providing ladders along their fences so the border-crossers will not damage their fences. Others have resorted to installing electric fences to keep them from crossing.

Is it inhumane to install electric fences to keep illegals out?

The swastika was an ancient civilization's symbol that resembled our sun that they worshipped. The Nazi salute was the symbol of the hand being raised to our sun. Both were the symbols for sun worshippers by an ancient South American civilization centuries ago! Hitler was the one who decided to use those symbols for the Nazi movement. Very clever!! What's your opinion?
