I took the "political compass" test and one question was as stated above. I don't think that you should be proud of a country just because you were born there. Isn't that the same as saying "I'm proud of my child even though he is a serial killer and cuts out body parts for his wall" ? I mean, could you be proud of a country even if you didn't agree with its values and the way it deals with problems?

Tell me what you think:)

I have been a soldier for 16 years. As soldiers, we put up with alot of junk during our daily jobs and that's not to mention the training that we had to endure when we became a soldier. I admit that there are Soldiers that are rude and mean people that do things that no one should do. You are going to have a criminal element in every society. Generally speaking, what do you think of soldiers and how they are treated?

I am very concerned about the entire situation. All of the casualties so far have been innocent civilians, including several children.

The twist in the media here makes it sound like Israel is in the right. PM Harper calls the attacks "measured". Two soldiers are worth all of this?

This hardly seems like something Canadians would typically support. I think Harper speaks for himself and not for the country. I know he definitely doesn't speak for me.

I am also unhappy with the delay in getting our citizens out of there safely.

The whole thing is a mess and quite frankly, it scares me.

What do you think?

Remember what John Lennon sang...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

I am up on current events, I LOVED politics when I was in school, LOVE politics now, but I don't really know where I fit in as far as deciding elephant or donkey(***, mule, WHATEVER take your pick these days...)! I read Time, and Newsweek(they each seem one sided in thier reporting), and still cannot figure where I belong. My father accused me of being a liberal while talking about politics not long ago, but I'm not quite sure of that either!!!
I don't like being left in the dark about what is going on in our nation, I cannot stand not knowing what is going on, and not being involved, but I have few people to discuss things with, it seems every time I talk politics with my father, he gets pissed at me!
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My husband is british, I met him when I was assigned in UK and got married over there. I came back here in the US, a year ago since my assignment was over. I keep asking him to come with me but he said he have a lot of unfinished business. A month ago, he called me and said that he doesn't love me anymore. He said that he is with someone and she's pregnant. I have his green card and social security number. How do I stop him from coming here and maybe revoke his green card.
