I think he should have said yes. The embryos are gonna get thrown away now instead of being used to help people.

While I don’t think that stem cell research should be funded by tax dollars that was not the stated reason Bush vetoed the bill. The reason he vetoed the bill was because he believed it was morally wrong. Really, this is a demonstration as to the problem with having science funded by tax dollars. No matter WHAT a scientist does some taxpayer somewhere (who is forced to pay taxes) will be against it. If science is simply allowed to be funded by the free market none of these problems will ever come up.

From what I've seen the stem cell thing is smoke rather than fire. Lots of promises about stem cells being the cure for everything. So far they have not done much. There are adult cells they can use and those from embylical cord blood to use. Also this is about federal funding. If scientists want to do the research they can use private funds or go offshore. So research is ongoing as it was yesterday. Veto or no veto.

People Need to read the news again. The Veto does not stop research. It Conserns FEDERAL FUNDING of the research.

It's a religious thing. Hopefully, after he is gone, the next president will be someone focused on science and the well-being of the people of the country, rather than his or her personal religious beliefs. It's also totally inconsistent; embyros are made and discarded all the time, both naturally in women's bodies, and in in vitro labs. The only harm to the country seem to be to certain religious sensibilities, although most of those people don't say much about in vitro fertilzation, and say nothing about natural expulsions that occur many times a day. It's all very mixed up and inconsistent, which is fine for the peope who believe it's bad to do; those people are free not to do embryonic research, but they shouldn't prevent scientists from doing it.

And in doing so he has doomed God knows how many people to lives of misery and hell when it has been proven stem cell research is the best way to find a cure. And, the moron gets up and calls them "babies!" They aren't babies - you fool, all they are is a bunch of cells! And they're going to be thrown away - doesn't that mean the people doing that should be tossed into prison for murder? The more this fool says and does, the more ashamed I am to be living in this country.

Isn't that just unbelievable?? And to think, those embroyos would now be just tossed in the trash like garbage, rather than doing some good for mankind. I am baffled! Bush is holding America back. I was so disgusted with the fact that those poor people trying to flee Lebanon were nearly forced to pay for their evacuation. I am not impressed with the untimely response. Isn't there another presidential election soon?? Ugh.

An embroyo is not human life. Do you eat eggs??

Is it ever right to harvest and destroy human life in order to research for anothers?
Think of it this way:
Is A (person) < B (person)? Or is A=B?

Are all people created equal with intinsic worth or do others have more of a right to live than others?
Example- In the US, blacks use to be considered infereior (<) than whites. We have decided that God has created all men equal. So are embryos inferior to born people?
There are plenty of other ways to get the cells we need for research. I am fearful of the path that some want us to take.

It doesn't matter the Congress can over ride his veto...I think they are waisting tax payer money if the bill gets vetoed and not ran through the Congress oversight commitee. What happened to the illegal immigration bill? My point is they need to all go.

I totally agreed with the President. There are different techniques then the fetus to do stem cellular study. human beings could desire to initiate being concerned concerning to the vote casting before they rant and rave approximately how the President is "retarded" for the veto. i'm no longer asserting you just to various the solutions there have been various those that did no longer consider this the place have been they whilst the election replace into occurring to replace the President? they could desire to of been actual busy that day.

Those embryos could have help someone to walk again but instead have been throw into the bio hazard trash can and gone to waste. They have use stem cells to helps rats to walk again after being hurt and so they could help humans but not now. It is crazy that throwing them away is okay, but helping someone to live longer and healthier is not.
