Communists used to occupy Afghanistan, and when we were fighting the communists, we gave funds and weapons to terrorist groups to build training camps, and the recruits could fight off the communists, which they did. Now, they turned against us. Did we create the terrorists then, and are we creating more, now?

I have seen others insult people for asking questions here, trying to get answers, a valid reason for using this site. But what I dont understand are those who will insult, and attack people for asking the questions in the first place. Is this the American way, to attack someone for seeking answers to their questions? I dont think so. If a person has nothing constructive to add, or an answer to give, then they should keep their personal opinions to themselves. What are they afraid of? Surely a question cannot hurt them. But they act as if they have been hurt somehow by a simple question. Is their ego so shallow that all they can do is attack others for seeking knowledge? These are probably the same bullies who attacked students for achieving Honor Roll status in school. Far better to remain stupid, than seek knowledge, I guess. *Rolls eyes*

5. Enforce all the laws already on the books.
6. Develop and implement a plan to make those who are here illegally but who have been good citizens legal behing all the rest who are here legally.

New York's highest court ruling same-sex unions are not allowed under state law.

In New York, the Court of Appeals said in a 4-2 decision that the state's marriage law is constitutional and clearly limits marriage to a union between a man and a woman.

Hi,

I am waiting for I-485 dates to be current (I-140 got approved). In the meanwhile I am planning to go back to India for good.
1. Can my employer still continue to file for my Green Card even if I join some other company in India?
2. If yes, can I complete all GC formalities from India
3. To maintain GC status, what are the rules, like how often would I need to visit US, etc?

Thanks!

In brief, a "democracy" is a society in which the people govern the people. Of course, there are many technicalities and details, but all in all, the purspose of a democracy is to uphold the voice of the people.

Many Americans seem to forget the US is but a babe compared to ancient societies. A mere two centuries is a dream in the night in the eyes of history. In only two centures, the US has faced such problems as crime, segregation, abortion, and religious-rights. These problems are decades old, and show no sign of diminishing.

How long can a democracy last without some intervention from the goverment? Can a democracy last a millenium or longer? Will America, in the long run, prove Democracy is superior, or will she only prove a Dictatorship or Communism is more efficient?

I keep wondering about this question... I think I saw in the news a while back that someone sued McDonalds because they spilled coffee on themselves and got burnt. Hello! It's coffee! It's supposed to be hot. You should NOT be able to sue someone because you're stupid. The same with smokers suing the big tobacco companies because they get lung cancer from smoking cigarettes. Everybody knows that smoking is bad for you and causes all kinds of health problems. I'm a smoker, and I know it's my own fault if I get lung cancer or heart disease because I'm the one who keeps lighting up. The tobacco companies didn't shove the cigarette in my mouth, light it for me, and force me to smoke it. It's the same with all the other smokers out there. No one's forcing you to smoke, and you know the consequences, so why do you have the right to sue for millions of dollars when you get lung cancer?

Cubans who came to the U.S. were automatically classified as refugees, granted permanent residency status and given help to settle in the U.S., under the Cuba Adjustment Act.

But then...

In 1991, tens of thousands of Haitians fled death squads risking their lives on the ocean voyage, U.S. immigration officials intercepted the asylum seekers and sent them back.

I need to find somebody in Mexico. My fiance's grandfather is an American citizen and he retired to Mexico b/c of cheaper living. He has diabetes and had one leg amputated in Mexico. He came to visit for Christmas and his other foot was badly burned b/c he kept by a heater way too long (he couldn't feel it b/c of poor blood circulation caused by the diabetes). We begged him to see a doctor in America but he is hard-headed and said its cheaper in Mexico. When he got back, he called us every week like he always did and all of a sudden his calls stopped in March. Not only that, his bank statements come to our house and I looked at them. The only activity on the account is the automatic deposits from his retirement. He hasn't had any activity since the time he stopped calling. He sent us something a long time ago and gave us his address, but when we write there it comes back as a bad address. I e-mailed the Mexican Consulate and have rec'd no response. Can anybody please help?
