The problem is that the U.S. occupation places obstacles in the way of freedom at every turn, and these confront Iraqis every day. People who have tried to avoid conflict, or who have given the U.S. the benefit of the doubt, feel betrayed and confronted by the occupiers on a daily basis.

Congradulations. I would highly suggest getting your college degree first. That way you can go in as an officer. Officers get paid more, they get treated a million times better, everyone who is enlisted has to solute you as they walk by, a room of enlisted have to stand at attention when you come into a room and you can make it up to general eventually and make $12,000 a month. But if you want to enlist there is nothing wrong with that. Do what is best for you.

I don't know what to tell you. Every country needs dedicated people to defend it. But I'm not happy with what the upper brass and Commander in Chief is telling the soldiers to do. Maybe you wouldn't be either.

Good for you. I think everyone should serve our country in some way. Myself and my 2 brothers were all in the military. You'll feel good about yourself. You'll learn responsibility and teamwork.

Only do it if you want to serve your country. It is so sad to see these young kids joining for other reasons (college, guaranteed pay check, travel, etc...), and then hating it and dissing it when they get out.
