Should we, the people, have a say in what books are banned?
Do you think there should be an Internet Regulating Agency to censor and delete all content found offensive?
Should we, the internet-using people have a say in this?
Do you think YAnswers should censor and delete all user accounts as they find necessary?
Should we, the YAnswers users, have a say in this?
Becaus I know i didn't when my account got suspended- they didn't even explain why. and i objected to any violation notices i got and never got any response. i did not find that my questions violated their TOS.

That movies sounds like it was based on Ray Bradbury's _Fahrenheit 451_ (named such b/c that is the temp. at which paper burns).
Then of course, there's always good old _1984_, thank you george orwell.
and dear buddadhan (sorry, sp?), i agree that any co. has the right to set up its own rules and take action accordingly, BUT, if the TOS contain subjective rules, then to whose discretion should it be left if it is a public thought-sharing service?

No, the government should not censor any books, ever. The problem is in the concentration of power. In other words the most disturbing question is not "what book to ban", but "who decides what book to ban?" As for Yahoo, they have a right to exclude anyone they want because the servers are their private property. This is also a fundamental right. Cheers.

Independent companies, with their own TOS, should be able to set up rules in advance about what is and what isn't ok, and then they should be able to take action based on that.

But no, everywhere else there should be no censorship.

No book should ever be burned. No movie cut. No news edited. No story taboo.

Censorship is bad.

Hope that this helps.

It depends on the content of the books. Elementary children should not be subjected to profane or violent content, no matter what the purpose. This inculdes video games and movies.
Parents should be the ones controlling access to inappropriate material. Often they allow the child to choose what they want without any supervision at all.

Yes!

We should never ban books--the author has the right to write what he likes, and you should have the right to read it. But your postscript changes things a little. YAnswers is putting its reputation on the line--this site is still its property, and the contents reflect on them. They should have the right to set limits on the types of content it will publish.

We have constitutional rights to protect us from this kind of crap. What books would you start burning? The Bible, classic literature, school books??? Yahoo is letting you use their resources free of charge so you have no rights to say what they can or cannot do.

NO!!!!!! that 's like that 60's move where books were like forbidden, if you got caught with a book you were burned with the book, and you learned everything from TV. then thse people memorized the books, and they went around saying these books. my mom was watching this with me, and she was like " this isn't real, is it?"
