It is a rationale I hear often.

No argument in that war is evil. But is it necessary?..if so, when is it not necessary.

My parents are natrualized citizens from Mexico. They ask when seeing their former country men here in the U.S. protesting, "Why are they mad at the U.S. Government for not making imegration easier? but they are not mad at the Mexican government for making leaving Mexico necessary?" They shout "si se puede" to the U.S. government while accepting generational corruption and incompetence from the Mexican government thinking nothing can be done about that or "no se puede"?

Recent admissions by Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara under the administration of President Lyndon B. Johnson revealed, Secretary McNamara knew the war in Viet Nam was not winnable, yet he continued to draft young men who were sent to fight and too often, were killed in combat.

If we could challange the Presidency of Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton, why is President Johnson and members of his Cabinet being ignored for violating the trust of the American people?

Would a civilian trial by jury or military tribunal as in Nurenburg (in which Robert McNamara would be charged with War Crimes, Crimes against the State and Crimes against Humanity) have any satisfying consequences?

Shoul we make those in government accountable for their decisions in ways other than the ballot box?

Please answer only if you are pretty certain. I can guess without help.

A local chain grocer (one store only) will not accept California Advantage EBT card if the card has become demagnitized, unless the customer has ID proving that they are the person named on the card. The Food Stamp program allows for designated representatives (and has a procedure for legally designating them) to use an individual's EBT card for disabled or other recipients.

While I intend to boycott the store and encourage many, many others to do the same, and begin a letter-writing campaign to both the owner and the chain, I do wonder if it's even legal. Since this store is in a neighborhood which has a high number of food stamp recipients without the wherewithall to shop elsewhere, I am sure that my neighbor is not the only one who had to depend on others' kindness for food for 2 weeks while her card was being replaced.

If you can't tell me, can you help me figure out where to find the information?

Big Increase in Latino Elected Officials

Latinos have increased their presence at all levels of government by 37 percent over the last 10 years, a Hispanic political group reports.

At the start of 2006, 5,132 Hispanics were in elected office around the country, compared to 3,743 in 1996, according to a study announced at the annual convention of the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials.

"It's in everyone's interest, it's in every party's interest, to cultivate the number of Hispanic elected officials," said Adam J. Segal, director of the Hispanic Voter Project at Johns Hopkins University.

Latino elected officials now hold office in 43 states, although 42 percent of them are in Texas.

Most other Latino officials were elected in areas with large Hispanic populations, such as California, Florida, New Jersey, New York, and Illinois, the Houston Chronicle reports.

In 1996, there were no Latino senators and some states had no Hispanics in office. Now there are three Hispanics in the U.S. Senate, representing Colorado (Ken Salazar), Florida (Mel Martinez) and New Jersey (Robert Menendez).

Although they hold the posts of governors, federal officials and state lawmakers, two-thirds of the country's Latino officeholders are working at either the municipal or school board level.

In 2004, New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson was considered a strong choice to be John Kerry's running mate. Richardson is now running for a second term as governor in November and has been mentioned as a possible name on the Democratic ticket in the next presidential election.

"I think Americans are getting used to voting for Hispanics," Simon Rosenberg, president of the New Democrat Network, told the Chronicle. "It was a novelty before."

hello a friend got pulled over last week (for a traffic violation) and they found approx 20 estacy pills on him. they said they assumed he had drugs on him and wanted to search the car. he had just purchased them and was basically bringing them home. however the cops are trying to charge him with 'trafficking a controlled substance'. how can he prove that he was hooked on the pills and maybe get diversion or something? he has never had any prior offenses or been in any trouble. he is willing to do a drug program or something like that.

http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/06/25/us.population.300million.ap/index.html

The erroneous estimate of only 20 million illegal foreigners, spread across America, comes from the federal government. When is the last time that the federal government accurately estimated anything having to do with numbers? Never! Not to my knowledge.

The Heritage Foundation recently estimated the number of family members that would seek American citizenship, after the illegal foreigners are given amnesty, at 150 million, give or take.

That is the end of the America as this and all the previous generations knew or know it. When there are 150 million foreigners, they will take over CONGRESSand the local governments and open the borders completely it seems to me.

As I was checking out this site, I could hear the TV in the background. I had it on the SciFi channel, which was running one of Bryant Gumbel's UFO reports - this one on Ketchburg (sic)Tennessee where it was reported that a UFO crashed in the woods several years ago. A number of people stated that they were either parked nearby, or the sights and sounds led to their approaching the "crash" site, only to be met by armed soldiers who ordered them to leave and threatened to confiscate their cars, arrest them, etc. if they did not obey. Bodily harm was not threatened; however, when you have an M-1 pointed at your head, I dare say it might have been implied! This leads me to ask whether the military has that automatic power over citizens and, if so, where is that written? Who gives them this absolute power?
