Historical causes of poverty particulalry in Africa include slavery, colonialism and present day unfair trade terms! In view of this, Africa depends on the concious of the west to overcome poverty. Despite horrible TV images of absolute misery, people don't act to change the world, why is it like this? If TV images can't make the worlds citizens to act, what will make western governments to be responsible and bring about fair international trade, regulation of multinational companies and lending institutions? What will it take for the majority to start being human with compassion for others? The world has taken long to move through histroy and reach present civilisation status mostly due to illiteracy and poor communication in the past, but with this generation, education and easy communication is expected to bring about happiness for all people with equal opportunities and access to health and education. To achieve this, peoples of the world should act, why are we not acting?

An American Brigadier was attending an Army conference that included Generals from the U.S., British, Canadian, Australian and French Armies.

At the cocktail reception, he found himself standing with a group of half dozen or so officers that included personnel from most of the countries.

Everyone was chatting away in English as they sipped their drinks but a French General suddenly complained that, whereas Europeans learn many languages, Americans learn only English. He then asked: "Why is it that we always have to speak English in these conferences rather than speaking French?"

Without hesitating, the American General replied: "Maybe it's because the Brits, Canadians, Aussies and Americans arranged it so you wouldn't have to speak German..................................."

I still havent seen any actual reason for this servere anger toward him. Sure we're at war... but would you recommend we just sit on our asses after we were attacked? What would you in that situation? And imagine yourself being ridiculed by people on a regualar basis who have no idea how hard your job is.Also if your going to hate what bush does you might want to go look up democracy in the dictionary... we also have something called checks and balances which keep one part of goverment from overpowering the other. Some people seem to think bush is an all powerful dictator that is responsible for everything.... well i guess you can think whatever you want, its friggin america right?

My friend has challenged me a MIND-GAME: if we sent a team of human (MALE & FEMALE of course) from our recent time (INFORMATION age) back to the ancient age (STONE age), how many person needed to build the civilization of that time into modern civilization as soon as possible? What skills and specifications needed for that team to achieve that progress as soon as possible?

For example, we perhaps need physicists, engineers, doctors, soldiers... but I haven't finished my grand scheme right now.... How about you all then? How many and what person we needed in this situation if you were the LEADER of the whole team? What would be your best strategy then?

These are significant numbers and I can understand many of the concerns expressed by some US citizens.

However, lets say that 15 million are working. The unemployment rate in the USA is 4.6% (May 2006) and will never be 0%. This comes to 13.5 million people being out of work in the USA (pop est 296 million).

If the 'illegals' leave, who is going to do the estimated 1.3 'plus' millions jobs that will be left vacant?
