Recent admissions by Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara under the administration of President Lyndon B. Johnson revealed, Secretary McNamara knew the war in Viet Nam was not winnable, yet he continued to draft young men who were sent to fight and too often, were killed in combat.

If we could challange the Presidency of Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton, why is President Johnson and members of his Cabinet being ignored for violating the trust of the American people?

Would a civilian trial by jury or military tribunal as in Nurenburg (in which Robert McNamara would be charged with War Crimes, Crimes against the State and Crimes against Humanity) have any satisfying consequences?

Shoul we make those in government accountable for their decisions in ways other than the ballot box?

I believe that government officials should be held accountable for their actions just as I am held accountable as a civilian for my actions.
Government officials are obligated to serve the best interests of their constituents.This includes peace time as well as war time.If a government official or agency betrays the trust of the people then it should be challenged in court.especially if the actions result in the loss of life or permanent injury.

I personally had relatives that served in Vietnam and when they returned their life was changed forever.It is especially heart wrentching to know many soldiers were drafted even though it was believed that the Vietnam War was not winnable.Who was looking out for the best interest of the American soldier?

No, but he should have been smacked around pretty good for being such a know it all liberal from Harvard who thought of himself as an elitist. His ego was out of control and his decisions, along with that jackass Johnson, cost thousands of lives unnecessarily (key word).
