I have two bearded dragons. My baby is doing well, but my adult is not eating as much as he should. He is also shedding and taking a long time to completely shed. Will he get his appetite back after shedding? Please let me know, I am worried. Thanks.

What kind of substrate/bedding do you use in your indoor Russian tortoise habitat?
I dont know what is best. I know that Russian tortoises are natural diggers/burrowers, so what kind of substrate is easiest for them to be dig in and be comfortable in? I don't want to use sand, as that could scratch the shell. I've read online that some people use rabbit pellets for the bedding, but that really doesnt make sense to me because what if they try to eat it?
should it be a dirt type of substrate? what about carefresh bedding?

I've been reading a lot about Leopard Geckos and Box Turtles lately and I'm planning on getting one or the other. (I'm not sure which one yet.) One of my big questions is: Which are more personable? By this I guess I mean wich is more likely to recognize you from other people and "bond"? (Of course, not in the way a dog bonds with a person, but you get the idea. Of course I don't expect my gecko or turtle to come up to me wagging it's tail whenever it sees me.) Also, Is it better to hibernate Eastern Box Turtles or is it better to take them inside during the winter?
Do you *have* to feed Leopard Geckos spiders and pinky mice? The spiders I can get used to, but the pinky mice...I'm not sure. I know that the geckos have to have a variety of insects, but I'm just wondering about those 2.

And my last question is: Do any of you own either one of these or both? Which one do you think is the better pet?

First of all, just to fill you in on any details you may need. I have two ball pythons, a male and a female in one tank together. They have been together since birth and haven't had any problems. I feed them two mice each a week (i just started feeding them two mice each about two months ago.) pretty regularly.
Today, I was switching their tanks because I got them a new 55 gallon tank and decided to put them in my tub with a little tiny bit of warm water because they weren't smelling too good. When I took them out, i noticed the female looked real big towards her tail and her belly was real red in that area. When I put them in the new tank, I noticed a bloody and almost fleshy substance coming out of the tail area (where poop would come from) and freaked out. About a half-hour later, I noticed real dark bloody poop that didn't look like snake poop (it was softer) and it has a REAL horrible smell. Is this really serious or is there something I can do? I love these snakes to death! Help

A friend keeps his rosy boa in my classroom and feeds it rats. In the last month it has refused 4 prey items, has not eaten and is currently shedding. I think the last time it ate was October 14th. Could the snake be sick or is this normal behavior?

I have 2 baby red-eared sliders. They're a little over 5 cm big.

I'm going to get a bigger tank soon. I'm thinkin' 20 gallons.

Do you think I will eventually need to get a bigger tank someday...? Or is keeping them in a 20-gallon tank forever good enough?

I just don't want to get a huge 60-gallon one... especially if I spend all that money just to find out they die the next day or something. I would feel ridiculous. And I don't even know where I would fit such a gigantic tank.

And is it true that the turtles will grow faster if I keep them in a bigger tank?

Im looking to get a reptile, but I first have to convince my parents, but I want to be sure that I convince them of the one I want.

I DONT want a leopard gecko (bad experience) and I want something a little bigger.

First of all, how long can a Beardy live in a 10 gallon tank. Ive got one 10 gallon, and 1 55 gallon. But the 55 gallon is my dads so ill have to be really good to be able to use it.

What is their personality like, calm and like to be held, jumpy, rather stay in the cage.

How much would you say the whole set up would cost, without the cage.

thanks

I have a male bearded dragon and i have it in a glass tank with a wired top with a heat lamp i keep on all time around, and another light i turn on in the morning and turn it off in the afternoon for him to sleep (i am suppose to turn it off for him to sleep?). When both lights are on durring the day the temp reaches about 100 degrees and when only the heat lamp is on in the afternoon the temp reaches to about 70 degrees( is that fine for the lizard?) I was wondering if there is a time period where i am suppose to keep just the one heat lamp on and the other one off so my lizard can "hibernate" like in the winter or some other time? or should i always turn on the one lamp in the morning and turn it off in the afternoon with the heat lamp always on?

(you can email the answer as well to HooTrain05@aol.com, please... thank you.)

ok so i have a really big tank for my turtles and i clean it every saturday or every other saturday and i luv them and they are doing really good but the last 2 weekends have been really busy and im still in school and i do volleyball after school so saturday is the only day i can clean it [i have two turtles betty boop, and brueno] and the tank was SOO DIRTY and i felt so bad and the water was low [they are red eared sliders] and they looked not as perky so i took them out like two minutes ago washed their shells feed them and put them in a 6 gallon tank with clean water. my question is will they be ok until tomorrow at 3:30? it has enough space for like 4 turtles to be side by side in but they did seem to perk up when i put them in there. but will they be ok being in such a small tank until the afternoon? and i am trying to convince my mom to let me put them in the bathtub in the morning.
THNX!and please no sarcasim or meaness i no i messed up but i usually take awsome care of them!
