Make sure you are keeping him at the right temperature; he needs an area to climb out of the water and dry off completely and soak in the heat light (about 85 degrees F) and he needs a UVB light.
He needs to have clean water, so be sure you have a good filter.
Try feeding him other stuff, like ghost shrimp, guppies, blood worms, small crickets, etc. They need variety in their diet; not just formulated turtle food.

Turtles want three things- fill the needs and they are happy and healthy.
1. Good water. Allow 10 gallons of water per inch of turtle shell, kept at about 75-80F, and crystal clean with a good filter.
2. Good sun. Safe, easy to access basking sites (rocks are usually too scratchy) that are warmed to 90F, lighting that illuminates the tank but allows shaded hiding spots, and- if possible- includes UVB lighting.
3. Good food. Usually, a mix of 1/2 good pellets and 1/2 live or frozen/thawed 'fish food' like small fish, shrimp, krill, worms, etc. (Flies are a common ingredient in cheap food, but are not food.)
Question- is this REALLY a snapper (brown shells, long tails)? Many turtles are sold as snappers but are actually some other species- often sliders (green shells, colorful bellies).
True snappers would want a shallower pool of water, a 'meatier' diet (include beef heart, cooked chicken strips, etc.) and tend to bask by floating or sitting in shallow water.

maybe your turtle hasnt gotten out of the water lately. is he able to? usually you dont see them up out of the water because they spend about all of there time in there. mine only gets out at night sometimes, but it is definitely necessary to be able to get out of the water. think about when you sit in a tub or pool for a while. you get pruny and wrinkly too, dont you? maybe your turtle has been in the water too long. it can exaust itself this way if it cant reach the surface without swimming. mine is in a deep tank but there is a place to get out just in case he wants to. he eats minnows and goldfish and he shares the tank with a young bass and now a couple of bullfrogs. also, all i have for them is a heat lamp pointing to the out of water rock and a pump that puts a few bubbles when it goes back into the water. i have no other special lights and ive had him fine for about a year. hope anything here could have helped

i give my turtle worms they are really cheap and he seems to love them i am not sure if yours would like them but turtles dont really eat that much anyways so it depends how long it has been since he has ate..try to give him live food more like worms or fish or something..otherwise you could go to a pet store and ask them.

LOL.. lack of understanding is bliss... Sexing an animal means determining it is gender. as far as turles pass, i in my opinion have no concept. i could call a vet and ask. For a number of you: via vet I mean a veterinarian. no longer a veteran.
