It'd be really hard to clean the tank with sand in there. And it could get stuck in the filters.

I suggest rocks. Turtles like to dig. But don't get rocks that are too small to where they can end up swallowing them, causing their digestive system to get blocked.

No, not likely. They might eat a little bit. Sand only works well for soft shell turtles or turtles in absolutely huge tanks. It gunks up your filters and ruins them, and good filtration is a must for turtles.

Many experienced keepers use sand- dirt and wastes tend to sit on top of the sand and makes clean-up easier.

It WILL gum up most filters, so a pre-filter sponge or something similar will be really helpful.

i wouldnt reccomend sand it can get stuck in their shell and irritate them and if you get rocks get large ones so they cant eat them, good luck,
