I have two bearded dragons. My baby is doing well, but my adult is not eating as much as he should. He is also shedding and taking a long time to completely shed. Will he get his appetite back after shedding? Please let me know, I am worried. Thanks.

Are your temps right? I'd try soaking him in warm water once a day to help him shed and keep him hydrated. His appetite should perk up soon.

There is a great book on bearded dragons by Philippe de Vosjoli and Robert Mailloux is called 'The General Care and Maintenance of Bearded Dragons. Buy it, they have been raising them since the beginning.

Most reptiles don't eat much if at all when shedding, but it's better to have info readily available.

I'd double check your temps. The basking temp should be about 100F for an adult, 105F for a baby. Has he been vet checked for parasites? He may have high numbers which can affect appetite. Is your UVB bulb less than 6 months old? If not it's time to change it (they lose potency). I'd also suggest daily warm water soaks to hydrate and assist with shedding. Make sure you aren't using any loose substrate in the tank that may have caused an impaction. Keep in mind that healthy adult dragons will brumate this time of year.
