No. They have lungs and need oxygen above water. They do have air sacks near the back legs, but they can NOT use them as gills. They hold air and can help a turtle stay under longer than say...you or I could, but they can't hold their breath forever, and they can't (as I've heard said) breathe through their rear ends!

Mostly no, but...

The Fitzroy River Turtle in Australia can breathe by taking water into some large 'sacks' near its cloacal opening. It often hunts in very deep water for food, and it is possible that a few other species do this as well.

Brumating water turtles (they technically brumate rather than hibernate) 'breathe' cold, oxygen-filled water by sucking it slowly into their necks and absorbing the oxygen, and some may do this at the cloaca and possibly even by absorbing some oxygen in other soft tissues.

However- they are air-breathing animals, like all reptiles, nad MOST of the breathing is done with lungs.

this is going to sound like a put on but some species of turtles at least here in australia can breath through their anus...swear to - its the truth.So I guess yeah but with some exceptions

Not all turtle Only some they are called water turtle.

no, some of them can stay under water pretty long, but all turtles need air

No they can just hold their breath for a really lond time.
