sometimes i go check on mine and they are sleeping underwater, sometimes they are sleeping on the basking dock, i guess it's just how they feel that day.

But they should have both land and water available to them so that they can make a choice of where they want to sleep.

They should be allowed to sleep where they want, but most will choose to sleep in water or on a basking site surrounded by water.

Their main habitat is water- they hunt, eat, court, mate, and brumate (hibernate) in the water and go on land mostly just to bask, warm up, find new habitats, and lay eggs.

The fish shouldn't hardship the turtle till you probably did not precise sterilize them earlier you threw them in there. Turtle contained in the wild are fantastically hardy, yet captive bred (which i desire yours is) are extra probable to get diseases from outdoors resources. call a vet (would not could be community) and basically ask them.

I think its better for RES to sleep in water, that way they won't dry out while they are sleeping, but wherever its comfortable is best. I have plants in my tank so my turtles lie on them so they are resting and at the same time they are in the water.
