My daughter (15) told me that she saw a snake this evening, apparently somewhere near the eaves and hanging down in the back doorway. She described it (what she could see) as multi light brown/orange, the bit "dangling down" was about 8 cm and she saw the eyes.

I have no idea what to do or who to call. I am not even sure that she DID see this. She has a history of either overdramatising things or making things up etc. She is genuirnely scare though - as am I !

I am in suburban Perth, Western Australia, about 3 km from the city centre. Is this likely ? She was all for calling the police but it didn't seem quite the place to call. But who ? It was pretty late by then anyway - about 10pm.

I know this sounds really strange and helpless of me. I am a single Mum and have dealt with quite a few "emergencies" and strange things before - but not really prepared for something like this ! Any ideas ? Or just forget it, put it down to her imagination ?

I adore most reptiles but do have a soft spot for just a few...especially tortoises. Does anyone here run a reptile rescue and can anyone tell me how to go about starting one? It would be a small scale operation (I can house around 10) I would not be rehabiliating any animals (I am not qualified for that) but I would take in surrendered healthy animals.

my ball python has been in shed for way too long!! his skin is starting to peel off in sheets rather than all rolling off at once, is this normal?? my main question is tho, i read that misting a tank is really bad for the snake cuz it can get blisters and cause bacteria but i also read other forums that misting helps the snake shed. if i do spray alittle water in the tank do i actually spray it onto the snake directly or do i spray the items inside the tank????
any answers will help me a lot. thank youuuuuuuu.

I have a baby Sulcuta tortoise and he is very sick. He has not eaten anything for about 5 days and he will not open his eyes. I have been soaking him everyday and I am giving him a Ampicillin soak right now. Is there anything that I can do. If something doesnt happen he is going to die soon. He has also pooped out a white pussy substance twice today.

I have been using large rocks as land in my turtle tank, which is what I have been doing for turtles in the past for a long time. My newest turtle has been eating and pooping out rocks. They are very large, I didnt think they could even fit in his mouth. Why is he doing this? I'm worried that my turtle has more rocks inside of him. How do I know if he has rocks in his stomach and cant pass them? Should I take him to the vet? And what can I use for land as an alternative?

are red-eared sliders ok to take out of their terrarium? Also is it ok for them to sleep upsideown on their shell? Mine did that last night for about a few seconds then got back up. I also would like to know, if they eat alot? I know im supposed to feed them once a day (younger ones) but do u usually see them eat their pellets? I would also like to know do u have to get them drinking water because my turtle doesnt drink its drinking water and i am afraid something will go wrong. Also for experts how long do you think it will take a re-eared slider to get used too a 14 year old boy and his freshmen yeared brother in the same room? I just got my turtle on Monday (this week) and have many turtle questions if you could leave ur messanger Y! messanger or a AIM so i can talk to you about these turtles if you know of these turtles well, I would really Like some knowledge on them.

I have had my ball python Eden now for about 3 weeks, the first time I held em' was the day I got him/her...... and I got bit. Now I try and hold em' and it seems like I'm gonna get bit again..... I keep his/her belly full, cage clean and warm, everything that it needs..... but whenever I reach in to pick it up, it acts as though I'm trying to hurt it and starts goin into attack mode. As the owner I would like to hold em' sometimes and not be paranoid.....I put on gloves and hold em' for a few seconds at a time but i do it inside the tank so he/she can just chill on my hand for a minute then go where it pleases. I just wanna be able to hold it without being bit....what should I do?

I have a bearded dragon, about 4-5 months old. Recently (about 3 days now) she has had her eyes shut an awful lot, and when they are open the secondary lids won't open all the way. Also, she only opens one eye at a time. She doesn't eat too much when presented with food, and only does so with lots of coaxing. She's become very lethargic, and does not resist or squirm or make even the slightest movement when I pick her up. If I pet her and stroke her head, she will barely open her eyes for but a few seconds, and lift up her head until I stop, then lays back down in my hand.
I've tried giving her plenty of water by misting and even a few warm baths in the tub when I noticed she became ill. She seems fine for about 30 minutes after that, but shortly returns to her previous condition.
Another thing, she never eats her vegetables, no matter what I offer.

So is there anything I can do at home or should I take her to a vet?
