Ofcourse they don't. I have aturtle and all it does is just sit there in its water. I don't even think that that turtle knows who you are. lol. I have a turtle and believe it feels like it doesn't exist. You should consider getting a cat or a dog.

Turtles are not cuddly and they don't do well being carried around. I have had my aquatic turtle for 10 years now. She doesn't like to be picked up but she does recognize me when I go near her pond. She will come to me to be fed but will not go to others. She also seems to recognize my voice as well.
Turtles also grow. I had mine in a 30 gallon tank but she has outgrown that. Since she was never forced to hibernate I'm told that its too late now to teach her. So I had to install a pool inside my house for her.
Turtles are also a lot of care. They need to be cleaned almost daily or they will start to smell and get sick.
Turtles can live a long time so they are a life long commitment.
I do enjoy watching mine but I also have a dog to cuddle and play with. My dog also enjoys watching the turtle.

I wouldn't consider a turtle cuddly at all, but that's just me and I also don't sonsider my mom's gigantic bird all that great a pet, either. I'm sure they're smarter than I give them credit for, but I've never met any anphibian with a personality.
I'm a mammal person, it's that I can relate to them better. Dogs and cats, mostly. Things that you can actually read their emmotions.
But hey, if a turtle is what you like, and you want to cuddle up to a hard, often wet animal, whatever floats your boat.

--Yes, they make good pets--but from the information-on what you're looking for in a pet--a turtle would not be for you. Reptiles like turtles,snakes--may get use to you handling them--but they are not going to cuddle with you or run to the door when you come home at nite. Turtles also have a special problem in the medical community---vets can not agree, regarding hibernation. As you probably know, turtles in the wild, hibernate--and nature tells animals when to do that. But in a home--they would not know when to /or even to-hibernate Some vets feel they should 'be forced' into hibernation--some feel thats its Ok if they never do--and why should it matter?-Because (again) -some vets- feel hibernation-keeps them healthy and allows them to live longer.- -I tell you this because they are special animals with special needs.--I do, however, applaud you on your honesty-you thought about what you wanted in a pet--and investigated the situation--Good for you !!--and Good luck!!

Turtles do NOT make good pets. Here's why:
Turtles live a LOOOONNNNNGGGGGG time. Your turtle, if healthy and well cared for should outlive you (if it's not well cared for, u shouldn't have it anyway).
ALSO, they GROW, and you have to be prepared to offer your turtle proper housing. That will mean up to a 100 gallon LONG aquarium, with rocks, a UV light, water, a pump..etc etc.
Many people get turtles as pets, but the poor creature doesn't survive infancy b/c they aren't given proper lighting, food, shelter, dry spots to soak up the UV rays, or clean water. They are a lot of work if well taken care of.

They are cool but they do not make good pets. They live longer then a cat or a dog and also they are not cuddly. They scratch when you pick them up.

Yes, they do make good pets. My son has 2 and he loves them. They may not be cuddly but they are funny to watch when we put them in the yard to get their sunshine.

Yes theyre are good pets, if:
you dont wanna play with it
you dont wanna bother it, ever,
you want to feed it and clean its dirty tank
basically, if you want one, dont expect it to get attached to you. cuz it wont. they dont do anything, just sleep, sometimes swim and eat. but theyre cute.
