I've had two female iguanas and was able to tell their sex by 15" long.take the iguanas and put them on their back, now look at the upper inner leg, they will have either a small row of femoral pores much like pin holes or larger ones that are very noticeable on both legs. If you see pin size holes you have a female, larger holes you have a male. Also a males head at the jaw is much larger than the females. Males have large fat pockets on the back of their head, females don't. Below is a website with several photos of each so you can compare yours with. The second site is on foods to feed them and what not to feed.

After the iguanas are older, you will be able to get a better idea of their sex. Please take a look at the following websites, they should help..

A male is very colorful and a female is very drab. The male will have a big orange/red/yellow spot on each side of his head and more than likely be more aggressive.

The male will have large glands on the underside of it back legs, but if they are too young you won't see them. females will have the glands but they look like pin holes.

No, even when they mature it is pretty hard to sex a reptile with an untrained eye because they keep their genitals tucked up inside them.

Put on a football game. if they watch it, they're male. If they complain they're female. if one watches and one hits him till he stops watching, well, you know who is who.
