Bearded Dragons are good started Desert Reptile, they are a little more hardier, but all reptiles are very diffcult to keep healthy and happy. Do lots and lots of research. They are very particular to many enviromental things. Humidity, Heat, Food, Uv-Light, Water type, Plants, Substrate (sand, rocks, wood). So many things to take into consideration you cant just get one and throw it in a tank with a towel and expect it to live.

good to see your asking around before purchasing.iguanas are not from the desert and don't really make good pets avoid them, All reptiles are not hard to keep, if fact if you set them up right from the beginning some can be the easiest pet. Savannah monitors are not a good choice, and believe it or not they are called that cause the come from the Savannah not the desert. i would try any of the desert king snakes, banded geckos leopard geckos or if you have more time and money a bearded dragon would be great.

Leopard geckos or bearded dragons. Most dont object to being handled if you get them used to it as babies, and they dont get as big as iguanas and some of the other reptiles.

None that I am aware of.
Buy one at the pet store, safer and healthier. If you get one from the desert, you have no idea if it has a decease, viruses, and who wants to bring that into their house...

No way, buy one...

Bearded Dragons and Uromastyx. Both are easily handled and pretty docile.
